Just when you thought “Brutus” was finished…
On its first trip to Moab Utah, a couple of flaws were found.
First off I cranked up the preload on the shocks & positioned them to the outside mount to compensate for the weight of people in the back. This caused a problem getting the machine into the transporter. It was too tall to clear the door opening. I had to put about 750 pounds in to get it to squat enough to get in the door. That works fine if you have a bunch of people handy, but it doesn’t always work out that way.
The other issue was found after we loaded up and went out on the trail. Even with the springs cranked up all the way, the rear end still sagged badly. This picture illustrates how bad it got when climbing.
Thanks to Jared at www.ruthlessmotorsports.com
I found the solution to both problems. Legend Air Suspension. Here is a video that shows how it works. The kit is on its way and will be installed as soon as the supercharger is finished.

That looks like a great product. What does it cost$
looking forward to see seeing the install and your feed back on it.
It is something I may look into in the future, after breaking my back 2 years ago im always looking for a softer ride.
My only thought or concern is moisture in the air lines frezzing in winter.

I know that Jared at Ruthless Motorsports is going to be offering some special pricing on these things, so I’ll let him weigh in on that.
One of the things that impress me is the lifetime warranty, and the fact that they have tested it in freezing temps.
I’m really looking forward to this project.

I asked your question to the engineering department, & here is the response I just got back.
(BTW They have a set of UTV Tracks on their Ranger right now and are currently doing a bunch of testing in the snow.)
"As far as moisture freezing the lines or solenoids... We have NEVER had this happen. We test in all kinds of conditions and weather across the nation. We LIVE in South Dakota, where today it is –1 degree with a –10 degrees wind-chill. Although we had a Kubota’s fuel gel up, we have had no problems utilizing the air suspension system today or in any weather conditions. This is part of normal testing for us. I also understand Polaris Manufacturing has a set of our shocks and has been doing more drastic weather testing and has, to this point, had no failure in any part of the Legend Air Suspension System. Lastly...as with any system we sell, we stand behind our product with a lifetime guarantee. If any customer EVER has a problem they can contact us, the manufacturer directly and we will work to correct or replace part or all of the system. 605-720-4207"

We are excited to be working with you on this project! The Legend Air Suspension is going to give you that final touch to Brutus. After seeing Brutus in action in Moab it only made sense to add the Legend setup to help you get the end result needed. And as noted a lifetime warranty is hard to beat and harder to find in this industry.
More info and pictures will be coming after the supercharger is finished.
Retail on the complete kit is $2,200.00
For a limited time with the PROMO CODE: "Brutus" we will take off $200.00 AND give you FREE SHIPPING!

I installed most of the Legend Air system on Brutus yesterday.
Very easy install!
I took a couple of pictures that show how low this thing will now squat. It is very impressive!
I will take some more pictures later with the air bags inflated that show the total range of suspension travel.

Ok, the Legend Air project is done, and the pictures have been updated.
I couldn’t be happier with both the quality of the kit and the end result. At this point I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this product.
I have measured as much as 14.5 inches of ground clearance between the stock plastic skid plate and the ground. I don’t plan on normally running it that high because I want the center of gravity as low as possible; it is just nice to know that I can have that much clearance if I need it, to clear an obstacle. I am having a ½ inch thick UHMW full under body skid plate made next week, so it won’t matter if I slide across a few rocks.
I tested the stock electrical system under a worst case scenario to see if there was a weak spot. At an idle with the radiator fan running, I turned on both sets of HIDs, the Wideband O/2 sensor was heating up, and then I turned on the Legend Air compressor. The voltage meter dropped to 10.7 volts, and the charging system warning flasher turned on. This all happened right before I blew the main fuse and everything died.
I procured a second Polaris battery and the Polaris battery isolator kit. I also ran every possible electrical component through its own relay. (Including the regular headlights) Now the electrical system can handle the load with no problem! The voltage doesn’t drop below 12.1 volts, and you can hear the isolator switch back and forth between batteries, as needed.
Now it’s time to get out there and put some miles on. I will let you know if any problems arise.
Thanks again to Badley for planting the idea in my head, and Jared at Ruthless Motorsports for hooking me up with this great product!

Dave, the suspension and overall machine looks great. How did the supercharger turn out? got any photo's of the final product?

Here is the link for the Supercharger project. The pictures on page 2 are the latest ones I have.
Marshall Motoart will have it for 1 week starting tomorrow. Chris will be revising the front headrests, installing the headliner on the insides of the rear fenders, and building a UHMW skid plate for the entire underside of the machine.
As soon as Chris is done, it is going to Max at Tri city Polaris for the clutching work & street legal kit installation. Then it goes back to Mountain performance for fine tuning on the Supercharger & engine control system. Then it gets strapped back on the chassis dyno so we can see just how much extra power we are putting to the wheels.
I am really itchin’ to get out there and drive this thing!!!
BTW Lynn, Are you coming to either the Mesquite/ Sand Hollow ride on Feb 19-21, Or the Easter weekend ride at Corral pink sand dunes on April 1st through 5th? (Corral pink still has one or 2 RV spaces left)

That looks great. How long doesw it take to go from empty to fully inflated front and rear?
Offline
I would say about 45-60 seconds.
The good thing is that it only has to be completely aired up just after it comes out of the transporter. It seems like adding or subtracting a few pounds is very quick once the air bags are in operating range.

Dave, who's doing the dyno work on Brutus for you? what's it cost?
