I am new to the forum, just registered today. I have a 2006 Rhino 660 Special Edition. I was hoping someone with some experience could help me out with with a fuel problem Im having. I was experiencing "vapor lock" on extremely warm, actually hot days and the Rhino would just crap out and die and not start until it cooled down. After letting it sit and cool down and sometimes removing fuel lines to attempt to diagnos the problem it would start back up and run fine.
I decided to go with an "electric fuel pump" to try to get around the problem. I first purchased a very poor quaility fuel pump and had nothiing but trouble until it just quit working. Then speaking with some friends they told me I needed to get a good quaility fuel pump. So I purchased a "Carter" electric fuel pump (Only model number I can see is P61295S). The guy at the parts store said it should worrk fine for the Rhino. I then encountered the problem of the fuel pressure being way to high and flooding the carb, and actually running out of the overflow tube. I started looking for a "fuel pressure regulator and finally found one at a Kragen. It was somewhat cheap looking, a dial type, but someone told me they had used one similar and it worked for them. Well...... it did not work for very long for me and I ended up having to find a higher quaility regulator. I ended up finding a "Holley 12-803" that was adjustable from 4.5 to 9 lbs pressure. I just finished getting everything installed today and tried to fire it up and to my disapointment, I still have the problem of the gas going right through the carbarator, even trying to adjust the pressure way down.
I'm at loss now as to what to try.............Does anyone see soomething I've done incorrectly. I'm not sure what to which direction to go now. I really figured I had it fixed with the higher quality parts, but the problem still persists. Does anyone know what fuel pressure the Rhino is supposed to run at (2006 660)?
Any help I could get would be much appreciated. Thanks,
