#1 Re: General Polaris Ranger and Polaris RZR Discussions » Need help/advice B4 buying please » 2014-02-27 09:06:19

I am considering a new Ranger 900XP or a 900 crew for a combination of hunting, periodic trail riding with the family and snow removal. I have about a 900' gravel driveway with an asphalt circle in front of the house and a 50' x 60' concrete pad in front of the garage. I am currently using a 2007 Can am 650 Max XT with a 60" Moose county plow which I will part with if I pull the trigger on a UTV. I am new to the UTV'S and hence having a few questions I was hoping for some opinions on snow removal. First, my original thought was to equip the UTV with a self contained blower (Bercomac or Superhog). However, after surfing the internet and reading more bad reviews than good I became concerned about reliability, aftermarket support, efficiency (time spent blowing versus plowing). I then got excited about the Boss power V-XT as that would be great for snow removal in the circle and nearest the garage as well as handle the 900' of driveway. I have been reading the forums and a few posts reflect that the Boss V-XT is too heavy for the Ranger 900 in general. So my questions are : blow versus plow? Will the Ranger 900 XP Crew handle the Boss V-XT? With the OAL and longer wheel base will the Crew be much more cumbersome in snow removal than its shorter counterpart? In closing I apologize for the length of this post. My only justification is when I intend to spend this kind of money (Ranger 900XP Crew, full cab, heat, plow or blower) I want to measure 20 times and cut once!! Thanks in advance to everyone who gives opinions/suggestions.
