My family and I do not recommend the Polaris Ranger 700XP. After 37 hours of cruising around in the trails and dunes with our 2yr old daughter we broke a belt. The belt was covered under warranty, but upon further review of why the belt broke, they told us our clutch has a groove on it and it is not covered by our warranty (or extended warranty). So, it's going to cost us $650 for our dealer to replace the clutch.
If you have money to burn, and don't have any problem spending $650 every 35-40 hours of use. Then by all means the Ranger is the ride for you.
Polaris won't cover our clutch and neither will our dealer, so the extended warranty is pretty much a waste of $$ too.
We purchasee our Ranger on 06/02/07 and it broke on 11/11/07. The dealer still doesn't even have the parts in to fix the clutch, but did have the courtesy to call and let us know that the parts may be in on 12/12/07. He mentioned their on back-order.... what does that tell you about their craftsmanship??
We have recently met several people that sold their Rangers and purchased Rhinos... and don't have any complaints.
Sorry to hear about your experience with your RZR.... and while with your daughter.
We bought our 1st Ranger 700XP in June ('07) and after 37 hours we broke a belt in the dunes, while cruising around with our 2yr old daughter. Although the belt was covered under our warranty, they told us we have a groove on our clutch and that isn't covered. Even though we purchased the extended warranty (total waste of $$), neither Polaris nor the dealer will cover it.
We purchased our Ranger because it has the middle seat and it's great for our daughters car seat. We are totally disappointed with the Ranger though as it's going to cost us $650 for our dealer to replace the non-warrantied clutch. Yeah, once it's fixed it's up for sale. There is no way on earth we are going to be wasting $650 every 35-40 hours of trail and dune cruising with our daughter.
We're totally disappointed with the quality of Polaris and the fact that they don't stand behind their product. We have been in contact with both our dealer and Polaris since it broke (11/11/07) and neither one of them care that the Ranger can't last 37 hours. Hey, they made the sale, they got their money. Who cares if they have another un-happy customer, right?
We have no problem spreading the word. We've even contacted Polaris Insider at escape@polarisind.com to post our story, and to no surprise it's not posted. Just another example that they don't stand behind their product.
