Do you ever trail ride that? I mean speeds of 45 and higher? I am wondering if the catvos lift is better than the Gorilla. Gorilla says if you trail run theirs it will build up pressure in the cv boots due to the angles and pop them off. I would love to lift mine like that but we run a lot of higher speed trails as well as mud. Your input on this owuld be appreciated.  :?:

#5 Re: Yamaha Rhino Performance Mods » Wanting More Power and still be reliable! » 2008-07-22 06:14:33

As some of you know I have been looking into hopping up the engine in my Rhino 660, like everyone else!  How about some opinions on the Hot Rods brand 719 stroker crank and piston kit. That along with a better cam,and some head porting. I already have the exhaust, cdi and clutching covered. I am looking for a significant power increase but need it to still be reliable for daily use doing chores as well as trail running and mudding. Budget is a consideration and I am not game for a $4000 to $6000 motor build. I am looking for "average Joe" build up costs. Suggestions?

I installed a 3 inch X-Treme lift in mine and love it! It relocated the shocks and man did the ride improve a ton!

Garmin Vista CX with a Ram pedistal mount! Over two years with ZERO issues. I also have a 12 volt cord that plugs into the power outlet and keeps it ready to go all the time. Just download the topo USA discs and your ready. This unit also has a port for a micro SD card. I have the entire topo USA map set on mine with room to spare.

Does your center consol fit back over the motor? Also are you having any heat issues with  the new motor? I would like to do the swap or have it done to mine but we run a lot of lower speed technical trails and I worry about the heat.

#10 Re: General Discussion about Yamaha Rhinos » WHATS THE BEST CLUTCH/SHEAVE MOD?? » 2008-07-21 08:48:55

I went with the team brand big wheel clutch kit and the modified sheave. I run 28" DOT super swampers ant top out at 54 with a windshield on bucking the wind. I have a dynateck cdi,K&N filter and an opened up stock exhaust. One of the biggest things I did to get some some more speed was I purchased a air /fuel meter from Hunterworks.com and reset my jetting. Mine was close by old school standards i.e. ran ok, plug looked good but I cleaned up the jetting useing this meeter to guide me and picked up 3mph on top end. By the way speeds are recorded by a GPS that I mentioned not the digital dash.

My rhino does have a great work ethic however you mentioned not tearing up the ground and the Polaris Ranger has a turf mode on the rear axle allowing you to unlok it to make sharp turns.
