It didn't look to be that serious of a wreck until you got a close up of the damage. Wow...
I won't be able to make it after all, with my broken hand and being off for 3 weeks the money is a little low in the bank account.
Not yet there isn't. They are working on one that will eliminate the speed governor and raise the rev limit up.
That is a nice area compared to our desert here in the valley of the freakin' sun. Almost makes me want to move there.
A small group of us from AZ are heading over to New Mexico to meet up with some of their riders to spend the holiday in the Santa Fe National Forest area. We will also be going over to one of the small towns that the movie Wild Hogs was filmed. We will be camping in the wilderness with no hookups, so the camping is free I will post more info as we get closer to the date.
Is anyone interested in going camping and trail riding north of Phoenix over the Father's Day weekend? We want to get away from the heat and ride up in the wooded area. I have not specified a place yet, as we are open to suggestions as to location.
The muffler appears to be far enough away to allow plenty of cool air between itself and the diff. housing. It is very close to the rear brake system and his has melted the brake cable once already.
That is funny about the vent tube problem, as my Teryx vents into the rollcage without a bladder. So heat carries the oil all the way up into your bladder - not just hot air.
So far the new fix is working but the AC 1000 is up in Colorado getting fitted for a turbo right now so we will see how it does with even more power going to the rear axle. It was free (as it will be the first one by this company) so he said "Why not."
It will be featured at the Moab event this month..
Same type of rear brake. There is a 1000 at the dealer right now that caught fire from the parking brake being left on.
Does your rear diff have that tiny breather tube venting into a bladder or to open air? I don't know why they have it vent into a bladder, as that will not let the heat escape. My friend is going to re-tap the vent hole and run a larger diameter hose up in to the rollcage to vent out the high heat.
There is too much of a heat build up in the rear differential during the 50+ mph driving and the presure builds up until it pushes the axle out. That is 1 theory that they are looking at and the other theory is basically that the axle shafts are too short to work on the 1000 and the factory is now making longer ones as the articulation and higher speeds pops the axle out of the differential housing.
They have fixed my friend's AC1000 but the factory will not tell him what they did to it and neither will the dealer - mainly because they do not want to make a recall situation out of it and they will repair only when the owner brings it in for a serious rear differential oil leak from the axles popped out of the housing.
Has anyone on here had that problem with their 1000? My friend's has now done it 4 times in less than 12hrs on the meter.
He has tried the o-ring trick and it does not work. I think that it might have something to do with the high heat that is generated in the rear diff box and that heat is kept in instead of expelled out like on other SxS's. Has anyone tried taking the bladder off to see if that helps with relieving the heat?
I was. but now im movin to phoenix.
Well, Let me be the first one to welcome you to Phx, the valley to HELL... But seriously, there are some great places to ride down here and I am sure that you will enjoy the hot, weather year round.
Let me know when you are ready to go out and explore the trails.
Prowler broke down on the graded road just a mile into the ride. It blew out the right rear axle shaft. On a great note - the Teryx was awesome!!!!
Found one thanks.
