#1 Re: General Discussion about Yamaha Rhinos » Rhino Recall » 2009-04-30 19:52:53

Just wondering how much you guys make on your paper routes. Must be quite a bit if you can afford a sxs. Cause the way your acting I would figure your around 16 years old. Grow up John Sands did you a favor he isnt trying to get Rhinos banned he's just trying to make them safer for every one involved in the sport. I know that can only go so far, there is risk involved in this sport but shouldnt Yamaha be taking steps to keep every one safer. It is cool of them to do the voulentary upgrade to used models, you dont see Chevy going back and putting side airbags on there old cars. Bottom line is this John wasnt trying to get Rhinos banned just made safer. I doent have a sxs but an atv if someone was trying to improve atv safety I would not flame on them for it, if they where trying to get them banned that would be a different story. And a net would have definatly saved her life as her head got crushed by the roll bar with nets her head wouldnt have been able to get between the roll bar and the ground. I agree with you some of the lawsuits out there are bogus "the rhino just tipped over while going strait at slow speeds on flat ground" yeah right someone did something to make it tip or its just posesed   Thats where the issue lies if Yamaha wanted to create a versitle machine that could fit in the bed of a truck and sit two poeple sxs thats fine the only way to make a vehicle like that would be to make a vehicle that is tippy. So knowing that they should have installed safety features to insure the safety of the occupants. Honda realized this on there sxs. My opinion they shouldnt be doing wheel spacers and should be doing side nets. Any one that bought there Rhino to fit it in there truck bed or down the tight trails they ride will just remove them anyways. And we all know Yamaha's favorite comeback is that the Rhino is a utility vehicle for working out of but have you seen the ads for it they paint a different story showing the Rhino blasting up a rock strewn hill bouncing up in the air off of the rocks. Looks like fun it would make anyone watching want to go do the same thing with theres when they go ride. You got alot of idiots that think that just because they saw the one on t.v. do it theres can to. Then they try it doent have the skill to make it and kill themselves. Then you have another sxs death and an even bigger dark cloud over the sport.

You guys need to lighten up he is just trying to protect you and your children from having this happen to you. You all have to agree that the Rhino is tippy, some blame a design flaw, others argue that the apparent flaws are what you need to design a off road vehicle of this type. Yamaha even agrees that its tippy its all over the warning labels on the dash that it can tip. Knowing that, Yamaha should have done more to protect occupants in the event of a rollover. A set of side nets like what comes on Honda's Big Red would have saved Ellies (Johns daughter) life. Yes I know you can get them after market but should you have to? JUST THINK A NET THAT WOULD HAVE COST YAMAHA $100 TOPS COULD HAVE SAVED A LITTLE GIRLS LIFE.  WHAT IS YOUR CHILDS LIFE WORTH? You guys should vent your anger some where else I know John personally and he is a good guy, it's very childish of you guys to get into his personal life especially anything to do with his daughter. Shame on you, if you dont like him sueing Yamaha flame away about that but stay out of his personal life. You guys should be mad at Yamaha for risking all your lifes over a $100 net. What happend may have been an accident but it wouldnt have cost a 10 year old girl her life if Yamaha would have taken some saftey precautions. Oh and if you knew what you where talking about you would know John never owned a Rhino it belonged to someone else but if he had owned it ofcoarse he would of gotten rid of it, would you want to walk into your garage every day and look at the machine that killed your daughter and visualize her small body crushed under it? You guys really need to learn some respect!!!!! If you have to pay $150.00 more this year than last but your getting a safer machine isnt it worth it?  Any one that answers no to that question deserves to get crushed by there sxs. Bottom line is John just made our sport safer you should be thanking him!!!!!!!
