AUGUST 28th 2010
We need everyone there. This is our chance, as a group, to show our elected officials that we want our Public Lands to be Open to ALL of US.
Please check out the website. We are in need of Donations and Volunteers. Links and info are on the website.
Thanks, and let's make this event a huge success.
Here is a question that I answered on another thread:
How does the parade and rally usually go? Meeting times, places, etc.
We start staging rigs at 6am at Liberty Park. The Parade leaves at 10am. The Rally starts at noonish. We will have parking outside of Liberty Park with vans and buses to shuttle people back and forth. The vans and buses with also shuttle people to the Capital if they are not part of the Parade.
Last year we had around 3 or 4 thousand peope. Hopefully we can double that this year.
Please bring your family and friends. The more people that show up, especially for the Rally, the bigger the impact. We will have TV and Radio coverage as well.
Hope to see you all there!

I will try and bring my Bro-in-law too!Good question. Where do we park our trailers?
I spoke with my Uncle who attended the rally last year. He said they had no problem staging everyone at Liberty Park last year. Many trucks and trailers unloaded there, some drove their whole outfit through the parade. I'm planning on parking at Liberty Park, however I wonder if there is a backup plan in case the rally is bigger than they project?
BTW, I've also been told that you ride from Liberty Park to the State Capital and follow the same route to return.

No and No.
Last year we staged on 4th south from State Street back to about 5th or 6th east.We had a few parking lots around downtown to park tow rigs etc and offered shuttle service back and forth.
This year we are staging all parade vehicles in and around Liberty Park but we can not "park" in the park. We have a very large parking lot reserved for tow rigs etc to park during the event. We also have buses to take people to and from the park and parking lot and the capital and parking lot. We are trying to get parking at the Capital as well but that may be for the people that show up for the Rally only and are not in the Parade.
The parade is one way only. We Do Not return to Liberty Park.
We will be updating the website almost daily with more info and also a map of the Parade route and parking lot.
Thanks

This differs from the information I was given by my Uncle who has, in all seriousness, never misled me. Regardless, I am listening. Where do you suggest we park our Tow Rigs and how do we return from the Capital? I do not see anything on the 'takebackutah' website at this time.

I'm on the board and have been planning the event for 6 months now so I have the "inside" info
We have a huge parking lot set aside for tow rigs etc (non-parade vehicles). We have buses to shuttle everyone back and forth from Liberty Park to the parking lot and also to and from the Capital and parking lot.
So what you do is go to Liberty Park and unload your UTV's, ATV's, Motorcycles, etc and then take your tow rig and trailer to the parking lot and the buses will bring you back. We will have a Ranger Crew to shuttle people around the Park.
At the end of the Rally we will bus you back to the parking lot to get your tow rig and trailer and then you can drive up to the Capital to get your toys. We will have security at the parking lot and at the capital.
Rocky Mountain ATV sent out this email blast. It has the Parade route map and some info:

Keep checking our website. We are updating it almost daily with the Parade and Rally info. We will also have a map posted soon that you can print out. www.takebackutah.org
Thanks All

Interesting on how they plan to shuttle thousands of people a few miles. I would think they would push for returning, what is the capitol going to do with hundreds of off-road vehicles parked up there and the nuisance of the trucks and trailers going up and down the hill...THIS IS A BIG ISSUE.

Do we get a "get out of jail free card" for going backwards around gravity hill and down I street and 6th east?
It will make one hell of a photo op if we want to be on the cover of people magazine in front of the Utah state capitol building anyway.
