I purchased a blackrhino fuel pump the other day and put it on. I put it on exactly how they told me to. I even went over the direction about 4 times and had other people go over it with me.
So here's my problem, It starts fine. It idles perfect and does about half throttle perfectly, but as soon as i hit full throttle and let off it just doies on me.... Then it wont start till i come to a complete stop and pull the choke out. For some reason it just dying one me like it's starving for fuel. I've checked to make sure everything is working right and everything. Just dont know what the heck is going on....
Can somebody please help me. Give me something to check or some suggestions. Anything at all with help at thgis point....

change your fuel filter
It came with a metal type fuel filter. I put it on there so it has a brand new filter. Should I try a different fuel filter?

I am positive it is the same pump I bought from Pep Boys! I have yet to figure out what the problem is. Read this thread

I bought a high volume vacuum pump and have had no problems since.

That's what my dad has on his rhino and has never had a problem. There's just something with it, and i cant figure it out....it's mind boggling...hahaha

I got a call from a guy that works at black rhino and missed his call. I've been so busy lately i just haven't had time to call him back. I'm going to call him either today or tomorrow and talk to him. When I do i'll get on here and let you know what they said....

I have been on another forum researching this problem and it looks like to be a common problem with this fuel pump. Most of the people linked the problem back to electrical or simply the fuel filter or fuel line pick-up (dirty fuel). The BRP fuel pump is very sensitive to outside electrical sousces and it nneds to be wired directly to the battery with a fused switch. i am pulled all my wiring out last night and am picking up a siwtch tonight and will let you know how it runs. Also, picking up a couple of spare fuel filters.

Direct off the battery and use a relay from the ignition to control it. I would recommend this for anything that should only be on when it is running.

I think the Alba Fuel pump is probably a good idea, and makes sense. I have a Edelbrock Carb on and had the same problems. Why is everybody condemning the elect fuel pump. Why wouldn't it work. It seems to be the best solution for fixing the problem. I do agree that a electric pump would need a relay, and from the battery. Is that the only problem with the electric pumps. What pressure & flow does the 660 need?

The electric works and was proven in the auto industy due to vapor locking issues. The problem is to much fuel bogs the four stroke engine and is regulated so it does not feed fast enough when throttle is added. The Vacuum type simply feeds the engine when it is requested at the prescribed amount. I am interested in trying both working together.

But what about the needle and seat in the carb? It shouldn't matter if the pressure or flow is a little too much. Wouldn't that regulate the fuel that goes into the carburetor bowl. That's how it works in a car engine. I'm not trying to start an argument, or cause trouble. I just want to understand how this Rhino works. I'm used to cars. Is it that the needle and seat very sensitive to pressure?

I am not exactly positive for reasoning this. I assume this because a high pressure pump has not worked for others and a vacuum pressure would be variable to the engines rpm's creating the vacuum. The float and needle should keep this in check. It would be something to ask William with RAIS on another forum.

I think it would be a bood idea to install an inline pressure regulator if you are going to run an electric pump. I think you can pick one up for around $15 or so. It will still give you the volume of flow you are looking for but at a controled rate.

The Facet that BRP and pepboys has is between 3-5 psi. I think at times it needs to go higher with the RPM demand on the engine. At low RPM's looking at the filter it keeps up, when it is at a higher rpm its barely there. A regulator would work great I think w/ a pump running at 5-7 lbs.
