Re: Photos from Dealer Show June 2008

Darryl - you saying you drove the 1000? Look like AC is stepping it up - big motor, flatbed, hood scoop...
Nice! Did they step up the axles on the 1000? I think there were some AC's break axles in Moab (other brands too  lol )

Re: Photos from Dealer Show June 2008

Yes, AC is stepping it up, bigger motors, better chassis, gas shocks etc. Yes, the axles across the entire AC line up have been beefed up quite a bit. I ran the XTZ hard, double jumped it, powerslides around corners, hit a rock pile at high speed to see the shocks jump into action..all to find that this is by far the best UTV on the market. It'll outrun the Rzr by quite a bit, it'll out jump the Rhinos and out pull the Ranger...This machine is awesome.
For a write up on this machine and to see some more photos of mine, check out this link...

BTW - One of the things that bugged me the most about the Prowler was the ride height. How much did they lower the seating? So Darryl, you our new resident AC expert?  big_smile

Re: Photos from Dealer Show June 2008

AC lowered the XTZ 2 inches to give it around 10 inches ground clearance. The seating within the frame is still the same location, with the overall machine sitting lower. The handling of the XTZ was much better than on previous machines. They've completely redesigned the frame and suspension. There are 22 fitments (pieces) on the Prowler main frame and none of them will interchange with the 08 XTXs. The new design on the 1000 incorporates gas shocks.
Now for the stiff part, MSRP is $13,999 for the XTZ 1000. It sounds a bit steep, but when you consider this machine will whoop everything out there that other manufacturers have, as well as many of the super hopped up machines, the price tag isn't too terrible. In fact, when the machines hit dealer floors in December, most will already have been sold or will be within a few days.
AC also has a lot of new accessories out such as Baja Kits for the Prowler lineup. It's going to be pretty interesting watching the evolution of UTVs over the next few years.

Ouch! Actually, price really isn't that bad considering the power. But then I gotta spend another $3-4k on extras  roll I will be checking them out - thanks Darryl.
