XTZ Owners,
I am investigating a 2009 XTZ 1000 H2 fire loss. The fire originated at the back of the vehicle near the parking brake. The owner stated that the parking brake light would not illuminate unless the brake lever was clicked up 3 notches. Pulling the brake lever up 1 or 2 notches would not illuminate the light. Do any XTZ owners have similar issues? How many notches "clicks" do you have to pull the brake lever before the indicator light comes on?? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Don't worry...I'm legit. I have been posting on another forum also, and they were also concerned. My name is Joe and I work for Barker & Herbert Analytical Laboratories in New Haven, IN. We are a private forensic lab, and I was hired by an insurance company to determine the origin and cause of this fire. My investigation so far has led me to an area of fire origin (at or near the parking brake). Don't get me wrong, I am not saying operator error is not a factor. I have not found an exemplar machine to exam, so I thought I would consult the people who own them. My job also requires me to rule in or rule out potential manufacturing defects.
Some questions I would like to see answered:
How far do you have to pull up on the parking brake to illuminate the indicator light?
If 3 or 4 clicks, will a brake engaged at 1 or 2 clicks create enough friction to ignite nearby combustibles?
How close is the nearest combustible material to the parking brake?
Etc, etc!!!
Can anyone help??

I personally do not know arctic cat but maybe someone will post an answer for you. There may be some gun shy people here not willing to help you because of all the problems with the lawyers and the Yamaha rhinos :x . That has really been blown out of proportion . All i can say is lets see what happens and maybe someone will post for you . And good luck with your investigation....
