Re: Aftermarket Exhaust Question (RZR)

I just ordered a Yoshi mid pipe and muffler combo for my RZR.....

My question is, if I leave the intake/filter/etc alone (exhaust pipe ONLY mod)....... would I need to do any adjustments to my fuel system? Will this mod alone, "open it up" enough to need more fuel intake? Thanks.

By the way, I'm at 700ft elevation. And I'm only buying the pipe for a better sound, not really for a performance boost.

Anytime you change the way the engine brings air in and out of an engine there needs to be changes done to the air fuel ratio. Polaris ecu's do not have the ability to see how the engine is fueling and make its own adjustment because that would require an o2 sensor interface from the exhaust and the ecu. Temperature and altitude will decide the difference if you will run to lean or way to lean when you improve the air flow of the engine. that is why you either need to reprogram the ecu or install a fuel control module with an air fuel gage to see how the engine is burning fuel. Since you are at 700ft I would not do the modification without the controler.

Re: Aftermarket Exhaust Question (RZR)

Here what I do with carb engines you have to adjust the a/f mixture manually. With efi or with ecu you just have to reset the ecu by disconnecting the battery for some minutes then install it again. It will automatically adjust by it self.

That is really not true on Polaris ECUs because they really aren't learn mode on these units. The fuel curves are hard coded and in order for an ECU to have the ability to have learn mode they need a Mass air sensor and a O2 sensor and Polaris Ecus do not have this ability.

On a carb motor when you order the exhaust they normally come with a new main jet that needs to be changed out when you do the exhaust Pipe....
