I just decided (don't tell my wife) that I am going to buy a UTV. I have been looking at used Rhino and Rangers, but know nothing about these or any of the other brands/models out there. I am not looking for a race model, but more of a work 4x4 and weekend fun/family cruiser. Also looking for the higher cc/hp models.
I am looking at 05-08 models, because I have a max of $7000 to spend.
Can forum members tell me what they consider to be the best model in those parameters, and why?
Please no flaming different brands.
Thanks all!

The Polaris Ranger. below is why....
1. It has a bigger box to Carry stuff in.
2. Has a much higher payload capacity.
3. Has more horse power and torque stock.
4. Has a higher towing capacity.
5. It has more ground clearance.
6. It has a wider track for better roll stability.
7. It has more suspension travel to go over Obstacles.
8. It seats three people from the factory.
9. It has a higher MPH at 44 and 50 depending on year.
10. It has one, Two, and 4 wheel drive shift on the fly, The one wheel option is good for not tearing up the lawn  .
11. Fuel Injection is included on all 700 and 800 Ranger Models.
12. It has a 500 watt charging system.
13. The U.S. military uses them.
14. It is made in the U.S.A. .

If your new to the sport there are many things to consider:
Rhino 450: will do just about anything but sand and not recommended as a four seater
Ranger: great machine all around but has size limitations but huge hauling capability
Rhino 660: my own experience has been great but you will be around 7500 or more for a clean, used machine. Low oil can toast an engiwant to ne in these quick too.
RZR: plenty of power, would recommend if you need the 50" trail width, most lookat long travel or the "s" model for more stabilty, lucky to find under 8000.
I now have the new RZR4 4 seater after selling the Rhino. I wanted to keep the rhino for crawling but found the RZR capable and more comfortable.

Asking a question of what UTV is better is a loosing battle.
In my opinion I like the Rhino, I have worked my 700 like a rented mule, (just got a new 5 foot rock rake) it is extremely agile off raod in tight spaces and has a very dependable 4x4 system. I have nothing bad to say about the Rhino it has served me well. Rhino also has a ton of aftermarket parts and upgrades.
I stand by Rhino
With that said, good luck with your choice and keep us posted.
Just for the record Id like to point out I didnt flame any brands.

There are 2 adults, 1 child in my family. (total of 3)
If I was to go with a Rhino or one of the other 2 seaters, how and how much $ does it take to convert them to more seats?
Thanks again guys!
BTW....I'll add to my profile, but I am in Houston.

I found this one (haven't looked at it yet). Supposed to be owners personel, he used at the race track for transportation. I asked about hours and he said there wasn't a meter, is that correct?
Any thoughts on this one ?

The decision is ultimately up to you but the specifications speak for themselves .
One thing to remember, all rhino 660 models are carbureted and do not have altitude compensation capability without doing a Jet change, That is normally needed above 7000 feet and they start to run real bad  .

No not really flaming any brand but only putting the actual specifications out there that are published to help him in his decision. I had gone through this back in 2004 and I took the specifications of both UTV's and did a side by side comparison and on paper and the ranger won the battle. capp35 ask a question and I can't tell a lie .
We all know how many times this question is asked and we all know what happens .
The 2009 Ranger had the Heat Issue and was mostly fixed on the 2010 models  .
