Just want to clarify few things before I place the order tonight for handheld GPS. Well, I am planning to buy a DeLorme PN-30 or DeLorme PN-40. I must admit that they have fantastic mapping features, but I read somewhere that they are not as user friendly as a Garmin Oregon handheld GPS. Looking forward to know your views and thoughts.
Thanks..

I got the Garmin Colorado 300 last year and have been happy with it for the most part. It was my first GPS unit so I really can't compare it to anything else.
Pro's for my Garmin:
- Nice full color display with good detail
- The dial makes choosing options and zooming in/out quick
- The mouse-like pointer allows you to scan across your maps easily.
- One hand operation
- Offers some good customization features that I haven't messed with too much yet
Cons:
- Battery life is not great
- Hard to read the display outdoors unless you crank up the backlit display to full. The main reason for the poor battery life i think.
Spend a little time shopping around to get the best price on whatever unit you decide to go with. I found mine at Costco for half the price then others were selling it at.

I have always owned a garmin since my first gps and I have always had good luck with them. It has been a few years since my last one so Im not really up to date with all the new stuff out there. Probably should upgrade one of these days.
Sorry I cant help out more but Im interested in what you end up getting so keep us all posted. THX and good luck!
