I am new to the forum and new to the Ranger community so any help provided is greatly appreciated.
I just bought a 2011 Ranger XP 800. After about 10 mins of riding I noticed that hot air blows out of the steering column. Is there a reason for this and is there any way to stop the air from blowing on the driver? Also I noticed that the ranger smells, could this be because the ranger is new and has not been broken in yet?
Thanks for the advice!!

Well the 2009 had an heat issue that was mostly fixed on the 2010 models if you include the foam kit that is mentioned somewhere on this site. As for the 2011 models I have no idea since I have personally not seen one yet and I am not sure on all the changes in the plastic. If the plastic is all the same I would add the foam Kit. As for the smell they do need to burn in for a while for the oils and paint to settle in.....
Do a search on heat issues and I listed the part numbers for the foam kit along with the added parts on the 2010 models that were added different then the 2009......
2003 Ford F350 Superduty FX4 Lariat, Banks Kit.
2003 Rampage 365 Toy Hauler.
2005 Ranger Xp, Sp belt, EPI Clutch Kit, Sp Ecu.
2001 Honda XR650R With Go Fast Kit.

Try taking off the 2 small plastic side panels behind the radiator. They are each held in place with about 5 little push pins. This will allow the hot air from the radiator to escape much easier, so it won't keep trying to find a way into the cab.
I don't really know why they even have them on, since the RZRs have never even had them. OK, maybe they add a more finished look, but I prefer functionality.

I don't seem to have any heat problems with my 2010 I just took delivery of it about a month or so ago.... I just love my new Ranger getting ready to get some accessories... soft cab enclosure, fold down windshield, both on order next will be the winch.... 4500 pounder viper I think is what I am getting...
When In Doubt...... Hammer It and Throttle Out!!!!!!!!
