Re: 2010 800xp engine oil

Anyone know why 2w50 is spec'd out in the manual other than polaris wants me to buy there oil, because no one has this weight oil but the dealer and it is pricy.  Can I use another weight like 0w50?  any thoughts?

Re: 2010 800xp engine oil

It is a little expensive compared to conventional oils, but its in the ballpark with other leading synthetics and since it only holds 2 quarts I feel it should have the best oil possible and as long as Polaris is warranting the parts I'm going to run their stuff. The way I look at it is it costs the same amount to change the oil in my truck whether it uses the same amount or not it's just as important. If you do want to switch a 0w50 would work just the same as 2w50, I would stick with a good synthetic though, but difinitely don't go with straight 50w that will be to thick for cold operations.
