Well, hello everyone. I am new to side by sides. I do not yet own one, but I will be getting one next month. I have a question for those of you who might know or know someone who knows. Have any of you driven, ridden in or know someone who has one of the 2011 John Deere XUV 825i's? Keep in mind I want a primarily utility type vehicle. I will be hunting and riding trails with this thing and working just the same. I am torn between the XUV 825i and the Polaris Ranger 800XP. I have ridden in the Ranger. I absolutely love it, but I have not had the opportunity to ride in the Deere. Naturally, I want to go ahead and go with the proven record of the Ranger, but I feel like I would be cheating myself if I didn't give the Deere a fair glance. If anyone has any info on the XUV please let me know. I am literally stumped and stuck between these two. Thank in advance for any input.

Hi George. There's not much chatter on this forum regarding the John Deere UTV's. I wish I knew more about the vehicle to provide some answers. Hopefully a Deere owner can drop by with some knowledge they can share.
What is the price difference between the XUV 825i vs. the 800XP?

Surprisingly enough, my buddy just bought an '11 Ranger for $11,800 out the door. The Deere salesman quoted me $11,700. So price isn't really an issue.

I can't tell you which way to go since I've never personally been in a Ranger, but my friends 825i has been fantastic so far. The new engine is dramatically better than the 23HP engine in the 625i. The suspension is also far superior to what was on the 625i.
The Gator is definitely wide and heavy though. It takes a little bit of getting used to taking it down trails, but it's great once you do.
Check out our Youtube channel to see some of the things we've put the 825i through.
