Re: What are they up to now?

A few years ago I received a survey asking how I use my side x side (was a rhino) and my opinions regarding the pic below. Recently I received another asking about a different "buggy type" with up to a 1200 cc or inline 4 engine.

Could it happen again? This was added to my computer on Monday, January 26, 2009, 9:22:44 PM

Re: What are they up to now?

one year before. R and D had to of been working on it for a while, I am sure it was aa marketing ploy to find user type and expectations. They also asked what you would you pay for such a vehicle, I should of said 12k instead of what thy go for now.

One day Yamaha wil get back into it.

I went through the same type of interview and basically I said a RZR can not do the job Of a Ranger XP or HD and the ranger Xp can also only do 2/3rds of what the RZR was built for. As fare as I am concerned the Ranger Crew is the only more then 3 passenger vehicle built and the RZR-4 is a vehicle for small people and is only good for that. I am personally not sure why Polaris built or wasted money on it and it could easily have been out done with a well modified Ranger Crew instead. The Rzr Crew is seated for 200 lbs people at best and the 50 inch wheel base is none existent with it so why not have more wheelbase with the ranger then try to blow up a RZR :?: .

they did it because people like "sport" to their ride even while hauling 4 people. it was not a waste of money but you already know that. look how many of them there are out there. way more than the ranger crew. dont get me wrong rangers have their place but the fun factor is not near as high

Re: What are they up to now?

They could have easily put a hotter motor in the crew and four recaro style seats instead of the bench seats and still have room for a center counsel in the front and back seats for drinks and stuff, It already has better stability due to it wider stance but can get better with a good shock upgrade. It even has a great bed to put stuff in and is way more practical then that the RZR-4 so called bed, The rzr 4 seating arrangement is way to close together for me, It is not meant for bigger adult people.

Yes I still do think it was a waste of money and resources and yes it sells well. I just think the money should have been spent on a Ranger Crew Xp that would seat four full size adults and be more practical. I drove a Rzr-4 and was not impressed. It was to small and the seating was to tight and uncomfortable. The sport of the RZR-4 was lost compared to the RZR-s due to the added weight and and length. It does not turn as well and it is way less stable due to the added weight of passengers. It is like adding a Race big block to a crew cab truck and expecting it to keep up with a ZR-1 Corvette, it just was not meant to be.

I would not own one but that is me. The RZR-s and Rzr-Xp would be the exception, they are true sport Utvs. Other then that I will stick with the Ranger line for carrying multiple passengers. Maybe I would build my own custom crew to eat Rzr-4s instead   wink .....

Re: What are they up to now?

I saw the same thing with a Rhino questionaire years back  :?

BTW Dale. I thought the RZR4 was a waste too... until I see them rockcrawling. With the added length the seem unstoppable on steep climbs. They are still at a disadvantage (compared to the S) at turning radias and belly clearance, but nothing a 3 (or 6  wink ) point turn and a good skid won't cure. They are tight for  seating in the back, but mutch better for hauling kids than a converted Rhino or Teryx. The Ranger will flip over backwards way too soon - but a Ranger Crew built for crawling sounds intriguing

Word on the street is that you will see some ranger crews built for crawling at rally on the rocks this year. We will see how they do!

Very cool! My only problem with the Ranger are them tipping over backwards. The crew would put a lot of weight out front - and with the longer wheelbase and some added clearance could be a great crawler.
