Re: Decent affordable UTV for my son?

Hi, my son has been pestering me for an ATV for months but those things scare me to death so I thought a UTV might be a decent compromise. I've been all over the internet trying to find reviews for a lower priced model and I'm not having a lot of luck, so I hope you can help me.

Shopping around, I've seen a lot of UTVs that cost as much as a good used car! I don't want to spend a ton of money on a new UTV, but I'm also nervous about buying a used one since my husband is far from handy.

Can anyone tell me if this is a decent machine and a decent price? Will it require much maintenance?

Don't know anything about this particular model but by the looks of it quite honestly it is a stretch to call that thing a UTV.

Re: Decent affordable UTV for my son?

I would put that in the (go-kart/golf cart) catergory. As far as new ones go, linked below is probably the cheapest thing I would buy and still consider it something to have fun with. Used you can find so many different UTV's for 5-7K but like you said, you never know what you're going to get. This isn't going to be an easy decision.

I forgot to even ask how old he is. If he's younger take a look at the RZR-170 they say no one under 12 years of age but my 7 year old drove my friends for an hour with no problem and had a ball. But my kids started riding atv's at 3 so they have some experience.

Re: Decent affordable UTV for my son?

You should look at an older Kawasaki Mule. They are pretty much bullet proof and can only go 25MPH.My grand kids have been driving mine since they are about 8 years old.How ever it is not a Toy and kids need to be supervised when using them or any motorized 4 wheeler!!!!
