Re: Rally on the Rocks

Got my reservations in at Spanish Trails Campground and registered online.

What trails is everybody running?
I'm doing the following:

Wednesday - Steelbender
Thursday - Golden Spike/Gold Bar
Friday - going on a non-ROTR private run on Fins N Things and Hells Revenge (Park fees apply, trailered)
Saturday - Keeping open to see what other trails I want to run...

Dean Bulloch, past National UROC Rock Crawling Champion will most likely be going on the Golden Spike/Gold Bar Run with us..

Is there going to be a SideXSide Forum bbq or get together?

Re: Rally on the Rocks

Darryl, Jared told me the rules have changed, so trails I signed up for may not apply.
I love running Poison Spider/Golden Spike/Gold Bar Rim - easy in one day if we can get a ride back to trailers. If you are going from Gold Bar to Golden Spike and back I would be interested in that ride also - I may have to sign up for trails again. I will likely do a non-ROTR night ride on Fins and Hells   big_smile

We should have a SidexSide get together. Mark should come and bring some Hot Dogs  wink

Re: Rally on the Rocks

Brad,
You can always count me in for a night ride. Parts will be in the first part of next week so I can get my transfer case back together. Sure looking forward to the Rally.

Re: Rally on the Rocks

I was planning on leaving Monday 9th afternoon or Tuesday 10th but may not make it at all after today. My short story is truck is at the dealership after almost using it as a plow from "diesel runaway scenerio"

Re: Rally on the Rocks

My battle with Ford is almost over, thanks to the dealer itself. I have the main repair done but I am fighting for some other issues that have been mentioned by them now. I don't see a problem with getting down there currently, other than playing head games with Ford motor company.

Word of advice, stay completely away from any Ford with the 6.0, unless you want to buy mine first of course! lol

Our 03 had some real issues that the dealer dealt with under warranty in which caused another set of problems down the road caused by the dealer its self. The tech broke a HP oil seal on injector 6 which caused low oil pressure to that injector when he fixed the  seals that were leaking fuel into the oil when it was new. As he was in there he damaged a wire to the air temp sensor and broke off the breather tube. All I had to fix myself after the warranty was up. Other then the early problem, all the other issues were made by the dealer and not the truck itself.

The 6.0 has had its issues early on but most of them were taken care of through updates on its production run. 2006 till 2009 6.0L had less recall problems then any other ford models those years. You must maintain the EPA mandated EGR system and always keep clean oil and coolant in them, No extended drain intervals. They can be made bullet prof with the addition of head studs, A 2007 or newer turbo with oil drain tube, and updated EGR system. Fortunately mine has the 03 EGR system which was fare less pron to problems then the 04 till 09 6.0. roll

Re: Rally on the Rocks

Mine should be about rebuilt now. No fuel injectors yet but that'll be next. You know it's not a good sign when the service manager tells you the best thing to do is get out of it. Ford bought back 5-600 of the first 6.0 before International threw up their arms about it. If Ford doesn't help anymore than I am going to a neighbor who is a deisel machanic from here out to "bulletproof" it. I don't have 65k for a new one.

Most of the buy backs were caused by destroyed engines caused by the fuel in oil problems. what year is the one you have and what was the latest problem? I have done almost all the upgrades on some of my friends trucks. I have only a few done to mine due to the lack of money now days but all that will happen down the road when I need to pull the heads. I quite running the power adders till then because some of the issues like the head bolts are cause by turbo over pressure and the added timing that the tuners have. Anyways If you need any questions answered I pretty much have researched every problem and fix on the 6.0. as a reminder you are lucky that you do not have a 6.4 because they get 1/3rd less mileage and even though the 6.7 has all that new power, it sure has a lot of new EPA mandated and very expensive smog equipment that has not proven itself yet. You also need to run a new DPF Fluid that is stored in a second tank.....
