What do you hook to the other line out ? On all these sites it clearly says for 450 and 660. Little help please

Had to look this up and I still do not know why it has two ports :?: I guess you could plug the small one and just run the bigger port since you say yours only has one port  It would be useless if it was used for a second fuel tank and also would be of no use for any pressure gauges roll Maybe it is built for older and newer models and the new ones have the second port. As of 2011 new EPA and Carb smog regulations require EVAP on stuff and I have not looked to see if any of the new polarises include EVAP canisters yet. I was at lowes the other day and all the new Generators now have the canister installed, but that extra port is on the suction side of a pump and would not work for EVAP. In other words, I do not know roll ....

Re: 450 Rhino High Flow Billet Fuel Pickup.. HELP

I looked in my rhino 660 manual and it says the second hose is a fuel tank vent hose. I am still not sure why the vent hose is coming off the same block as the fuel suction hose since it would cause a fuel suction or priming issue to the pump but that is what they say it is used for in the manual roll ....

Like mentioned, the second port is used for the fuel tank vent according to the good old rhino 660 manual big_smile ....

Re: 450 Rhino High Flow Billet Fuel Pickup.. HELP

With out any specific instructions to quote I may have an explaniation for you. Many people install electric fuel pumps on their Rhino's. When an electric fuel pump is installed you need a path for the excess fuel delivered to return to the tank, this is usually accomplished with a T that is installed between the fuel pump and the carb, the fuelpump goes to the large side of the T, the T side goes to the carb, Then the small side of the T goes back to the fuel tank. It is common on all things with electric fuel pumps, they just recirculate the fuel that the carb does not need, by doing this a fuel regulator is not needed. Now there is a little more to consider, the T should not be just any old T, it may work.....but it is best if it constructed correctly. Think of the capital letter T, across the top one side is bigger that the other say the right side is big and the bottom leg of the T is big, and the left side of the T is smaller. Large fuel line on the large nipple all the way to the carb, small side goes back to the small nipple on the tank. But wait....there is more, if you looked through the T you would probably notice that the hole steps down, this means that the fuel would want to flow to the carb, large fuel line and large hole to carb. If it all sounds complicated, well it is KINDA. I have made T's out of AN fittings turning them in a lathe, still more work. A good off the shelf T you could buy is off of a Yam YTZ250, it's an old, 1985, 250 three wheeler, it used a vacuum fuel pump and sent the excess fuel back to the tank. NOW, after all of that you could just cap off the unused port on the billet adapter.

As smokey yunick once said, Conventional oil is as antiquated as the model "T". It is really the only way to go   big_smile .....

Re: 450 Rhino High Flow Billet Fuel Pickup.. HELP

I like synthetic oils, just make sure you get the right grade. Yamaha has high quality 4stroke synthetic oils. I have also used Mobil One, just don't use the energy conserving type, they have an additive to reduce friction more than regular oil, slick stuff if you can call it that. Your 450 has a shoe type wet clutch, it runs in the oil. The special additive in energy conserving oils can coat the friction materials on the shoe and lead to slippage. It would almost be like a glazed brake pad, it's an expensive part that you won't want to replace if you don't have to. BTW I am sure that the plastic fuel pickup could be broken, I haven't seen it or done it yet, but look around and darn near every thing is plastic these days.

Instead of reading our valuable opinions, just a joke, take a look at this web site. Mobiloil.com, select oil in the top bar and the pick FAQ's on the left side. the proper name for what I called slick stuff is Friction Modifiers. It goes into detail, it's a good read!

Good point on the wet clutch, I made that mistake a long time ago with a 250 Mojave. Anything that has a wet clutch should run an oil intended for that type of system. I use Mobile One 4T Synthetic on my XR650. Polaris UTVs do not use wet clutches so any good 0-40 or 5-40 synthetic oil is good. I use Royal Purple because it uses a real PAO base oil unlike the ones that claim to be full synthetic using group 3 base stock oils. PAO or Diester base stocks are group 4 and 5.....

Due to a lawsuit or grievance filed some time back, Mobile One Versus Castrol in the 90s. Motor Oils in the USA can now claim to read to be full synthetic on the bottle using Group 3 Base oils. This is still not allowed almost anywhere else and oils made overseas like Castrol Syntec must use group 4 base oils unlike the group 3 base oils they sell here. If Castrol sells a quart of oil overseas using group 3 oils they must remove the full synthetic label from the bottle. This all was decided by the People or judges at NAD that probably have no idea where the dipsticks are in there own cars and ruled in favor of Castrol on the lawsuit. Even now Mobile One uses Group 3 base-oils in this country on lots of mobile one products due to the manufacture cost of groups 4 and 5 base oils. It is safe to say that any of the lower cost synthetic oils except the high end mobile one products are group 3 now. Amsoil, Royal Purple, Redline, Schaffer, Mobile One Delvac 1 would be considered Group 4 oils.....

In regards to the Viscosity of oils. An oil sold as 10w-40 is no thicker than 10 weight oil under Winter (10w) conditions, meaning below freezing. The 40 means it is no thinner than 40 weight oil at 212 Fahrenheit. So, the first number tells us the performance of the oil at or below the temperature of freezing water, and the second number tells us the performance at the temperature of boiling water. The chemicals added to the oil to accomplish this are called Viscosity Index Improver's (VIIs). Running a zero weight oil versus a Five weight oil at temperatures above freezing is safe and will not hurt any engine. In fact at -10 below zero it is still safe to run, but I would not do the same thing with a 15w or 20w due to the fact it would be to thick at those temperatures. As for very hot climates 95 to 115 degrees on my Fords and work trucks, I run a 30w over the recommended 20w, 40w over the recommended 30w oils during these hotter times.....

Re: 450 Rhino High Flow Billet Fuel Pickup.. HELP

I haven't purchased a single Castrol product since then! Courts didn't know @$$ from ground zero, but it seems they miss the mark on many occasions. That is good info for those looking to understand oils. Be carefull about the field of Tribology, the next thing you know you will have spent a fortune on books. I sure spent more than I should have but  enjoyed the knowledge

I also stopped buying Fram Oil Filter product because they changed the manufacturing process. In the early 80s we used to cut oil filters open to see how our race engines were holding together. We used a lot of fram product then and all there oil filters were of above standards in quality and had metal end caps and very good anti drain back and bypass valves. Now they have cardboard end caps and the valves leak like the titanic. I found this out not by cutting one open but reading an article on it. I then cut one open and behold the article was correct. They are junk and would never use them again......

If anyone wants to read a real good review of oil filters. check the link below. It may just change your mind on what you use   wink
