Re: New to SW Utah

Hi I'm Caroline and my hubby is Gary and we recently moved to Utah from So Cal. We are in our 40's and looking for other people in the vicinity that have SxS and like to go riding. I have a RZR-S and Hubby has a Ranger XP.

About two miles from were I live as the crow flies. We moved up here in 2000 from the SF valley and kind of regret doing it now due to the Job Market and fuel cost. Would make another move but do to the housing market and my dad getting up there in age we are kind of stuck here. 47th and Pearblossom would be down the road from the Mobile station and swap meet were the newer housing track is. I used to always go up 47th onto mount emma into Pasadena every day until the company that I worked for got bought out and then laid everyone off. Now I try to make ends meet with whatever I can get my hands on till the Job situations become better in California.....

We moved there in 1996 from the SFV too, I guess we were the lucky ones to get out of there last December and sell our house for more than it appraised for. I know how that commute stinks, I did it for a year to the City of Industry and took Mt Emma often, My hubby drove a couple years to Santa Monica and that drive on the 405 really sucked. When he finally got a well paying job in town it was like getting a life back.  To bad I didn't  find you on here before, we use to go ride out at Jawbone and Glamis, although jawbone is pretty blah compared to the trails here, there is nothing like the red rock desert, if you ever get a chance to ride out here I reccommend it. Well, I hope you have a nice Memorial Day and the job market in CA gets better soon!!!

Re: New to SW Utah

I almost considered doing Moab a few years back but it is a little too fare away for me. We used to base out of Jawbone and do the long rides into the forests above the Isabella area as well as the randsburg run and dove springs. We also did Kennedy meadows that is around 8500 feet during the summer. Maybe when I get full time again with the job situation here, I will see about doing rally on the rocks down the road. Maybe Jarred or AKA Mr Kryptonite will jump on at some point and give you some more riding Information for the area. He is the Go to guy in Utah for your polarises on upgrades and the hot riding information in Utah. Badley is another top person to hook up with for ride information as well.....

Re: New to SW Utah

Welcome to the forum Caroline and Gary! We try to plan as many rides as possible and you are always welcome to join in. We have all ages on our rides and they can be from mild to wild...  lol We tend to ride Moab (every chance we get) or St. George areas in late fall through early Spring and Northern and Central Utah in the summer. Keep an eye on "Going riding who's with me?" area of the forum. Look forward to riding with you.

Re: New to SW Utah

Big welcome as well!
You have a great Area to ride in. Marysvale just south of I-70 and about 25 miles east of I-15, heart of the Paiute trail. You won't see much until late this year due to snow depths. Look at www.marysvale.org for more info. It is my favorite place and Moab a close second.

Hi Fasttrax:

Thanks for the info, we have been up there twice for their UTV Jam in Aug. Its definately a beautiful place to ride. We need to try the areas on the other side of the I70 out of Richfield, we havent been on the northern side yet.

The Richfield to Fillmore ride is fun in the fall or when you can get over the top. I did it once in July and it was a little to toasty. Marysvale currently is either flooded or limited to travel due to snow, not a whole lot of riding.
