Re: squeaks and rattles

new to the whole side x side/atv world: bought a 2011 ranger xp le and took it out for the maiden voyage yesterday. lots of fun but noticed what sounded like excessive squeaks, e.g., rubber on metal, from the suspension and miscellaneous rattles. i hesitated to post this as i don't want to sound like a whiner, but this being my first atv of any kid i was wondering if this is 'normal'/expected. i realize i'm 'off road' and some noise is expected, but this seemed excessive. the machine has less than 1 hour on it.  if i need to up my medication let me know.  big_smile  also, would be interested if there are any 'must do' upgrades/changes (did a search but nothing came up). TIA

Wecome to fun. Check the loadbox catch/release lever. It has metal to metal contact. Check by pulling up the lever just a little bit while driving. I attached a cable tie between the catch and angle iron to prevent metal to metal squeeks.

Re: squeaks and rattles

I am always in pursuit of rattles and squeeks  :?  I am not sure about the Ranger but the RZR sway bars never have enough grease from the factory - I had to remove the bushings and coat them all the way around (zerk wouldn't do it) to stop the squeek. My Rhino had a bed latch rattle and squeek that took a while to remedy. I have learned that some can not be stopped (mainly when rock crawling), but with patience you can find and remedy some.

Re: squeaks and rattles

My 2005 Ranger has always made noise. Exhaust joints rattling, Shocks squeaking, And bed rattling. roll . After many attempts to fix and try to eliminate them, I kind of gave up till something new comes along, then I get concerned till I know what it is and that it will not strand me somewhere lol  wink ....

Re: squeaks and rattles

Check all your roll cage bolts. I picked up a new XP 800 (Black LE) last weekend. Every freaking bolt on the roll cage was snug, but not tight. I tightened all down and it doesn't rattle now. I hear one that I think is a heat sheild on the exhaust. That will be my next gremlin to find.
Now for a roof and windshield.

Re: squeaks and rattles

Lazy boy me made "star warranty" unbolt my shocks and regrease the bushings in them. For some reason Polaris feels they work best dry and don't do it at the factory.

Re: squeaks and rattles

I found my main squeeker while out last week. It's the seatbelt. Where it mounts to the rollcage at the top. Now to figure out a rubber washer to put in there to stop that.

Re: squeaks and rattles

I guess I could cut up one of those Jesus shoes and use the rubber for a washer to stop the noise.

Re: squeaks and rattles

Hi ! I'm new to forum. Have a rzr 800s and it has a rattle that just started. If I hold my foot on the brake pedal it stops. Seems to be coming from underneath towards back. Any ideas? It does it weather I 'm coasting or under power.

My RZR did that as well. It was the rear breaks. Also had a heat shield on the exhaust with a lose bolt.
