This seems to be a great place to get started out on the sxs. I am thinking about singing up for the" Rally on the Rocks". Is this a good Rally to go to? Would my Polaris 800efi xp be ok to take to this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I live in Missouri. Wondering about the heat would I need any type of modifications to my machine. Looking to add a lift and tires and wheels. What type of tires are good for the location? Thanks for any help in advance. One last thing what Hotel is the best to stay at in Moab so I dont have to trailer all the time?

The Rally is an awesome experience - I would highly recomend it! The heat isn't too bad in May - weather can change so be prepared for cold too. Your Ranger will be able to handle easy to moderate trails but I would recomend calling for a spotter rope on steep obstacles as the Rangers are back heavy and tend to tip backwards fairly easy. Lift will give you clearance, but will also affect center of gravity. Offset wheels will help offset a lift. I would highly recomend a UHMW skid plate and offset rims and maybe forget the lift. Tires - Maxis Bighorns do great in Moab, I run 28" ITP Bajacross, they do great also - I personally like the rim protection and 8 ply rating, but they get very good traction on the slick rock and you need to be careful not to use too much power and end up breaking and axle (or worse). Unless you stay next to the arena you will have to trailer to the arena (you could also leave your trailer and Ranger at the arena. If you are street legal in UT you can drive on most roads. Guided trails are escorted and you will not have to trailer back and forth to trails. If you have never been to Moab, this is the perfect way to experience it. Hotels fill up fast... better get a reservation soon.

I got my UHMW to put on my skid plate. I figured I can just take off my skidplate get it in the shop lay it on top of the UHMW trace it out and cut it. Then I will take and counter sink flat head bolts into the UHMW to the skidplate the UHMW I have is 1/4" thick. I figured this should get me through the four days out there.. I am taking it that this will allow for me to slide off of the rocks a little eaiser? Great Idea. Thanks Badly.

I everyone,
I go by River rat(a.k.a. Randy Boyes) on the truck driver and am new to this side-by-side world.
I purchased last year a Polaris RZR 980 XP from ultimate motorsports there Knoxville Tennessee.
It has all the goodies that one could want on a new side-by-side I gave but jet ski because with my schedule is a truck driver I never had any time to ride it. I've been out a few time at wind rock and royal blue and really enjoyed it and am getting better or should I say more competent in this kind of riding.
The people I've met so far have been great and willing to teach someone new to the sport how to ride safely and took me to some great places at wind rock and royal blue.

Hi Cory,
Nice ride, I know I sure like mine. So you guys do a lot of ridding there in Kentucky? I went to your online shop nice. We have a small shop here in West Plains, just getting started out. We want to just sell small accessories for the off road guys and gals around our area. I think it is a good way to ge the people aound our area to expand the riding. I would like to have a club sometime if we can get this thing off the ground. Well have fun in the forum.
