Hello All,
I am new to the sxs world and trying to learn my way around this machine. At this pace it shouldn't take long due to all the problems I have had. Anyways, my current problem involves the steering/front end componets. Last weekend I managed to slide into a tree at a very low speed, 4-5 mph at best. Unfortunately, my wheels were turned all the way to the left and the rim took all of the impact. After the wreck my steering binds when trying to turn the wheels to the right. I removed both tires and tie rods from the hub and the problem still exist. I believe the "cylinder" (may be called steering rack) that extends/retracts inside the gearbox assembly on the passenger side is bent. Is there anything else that I may be overlooking that could cause this problem? I figured no harder than I hit the tree that something else would have gave first but considering the angle of impact it is plausible. Any suggestions would be appreciated? Thanks

sounds like it could be the steering rack,if you have taken off the tie rods and it still does it.

Has to be the steering rack, unfortunately you'll have to replace the whole thing because no one makes just parts for the steering rack. I would highly recommend power steering, the decreased steering effort may help you avoid any "tree incidents" in the future.
