Re: diesel power unit

Im new to the side by side thing.  I have been into atvs for a long time.  Right now all I have is a 2-stroke yamaha golf cart with a 6 inch lift.  Im looking into a side by side cause im feed up with getting stuck and not having the pulling ability.  I dont know which one to get.  I want a diesel 4x4.  It would only have to be a 2 person unit.  It would be used around the farm.  Is there a lift kit for them?  Which one do yall suggest???  I love diesel power.  Im currently installing a 12v cummins into my 1999 f-250 ford super duty with a 5.4 gasser.  A few years ago I built a suzuki samuri.  It has a d-50 dodge diesel,  4 link suspension in back, roll cage, jeep cherokee axles, fully hydro steering, and 33" tsl boggers.

Re: diesel power unit

I am new to the side by side world too.  I would like a to find a diesel one as well.  The problem that I am finding is that nobody makes one that will keep up with the gas ones.  I have been looking at the Intimidator web site, and I think one of these and a turbo retrofitted on would make a snappy little unit.

Re: diesel power unit

The Polaris Ranger diesel is your best bet, it does around 45mph top speed which like the 2nd poster mentioned isn't as fast as the gas models but it will pull/carry anything you want. And it has plenty of suspension for play time. The Kubota is a great workhorse but I don't like the hydraulic transmission and it doesn't have the suspension for a weekend of fun after the work week is over. I have no experience with the John Deere models but now you"re talking some serious $$$$$.

will not be dissapointed in the diesel. They are a 100% work horse that out spec everyone in payload and towing capacity.
More ground clearance, bigger tires, larger wheel bearings and A-Arms, low gear with 36:1 reduction. Push button front and rear locking diffs on the fly.
