I have a '02 Polaris Ranger Professional Series that has a top speed of a whole 25mph. I was wondering if anyone knew how to get it to go faster. Any help is very much appreciated.

Rather than spen 10,000.00 to get it fast, maybe just trade up to a RZR. Also, did you look into the swing arm problem recall they had on those? http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml02/02555.html

I have found somebody saying that a cdi from a sportsman 700 efi will do wonders if mounted in a Ranger, but will this fit a Professional Series also? Also does the efi part affect anything; being by Ranger is not efi?

Before 2005 the rangers were not built to be performance machines and were built to work around the ranch, There is some stuff you can do but really will not get you much without spending more then it is worth, It is a 500cc single cyl and is carburated and the 700 sp ecu will not work on a pre fuel injected engine, I also think it is geared much lower then the 2004 and 2005 models that will do 40 mph with the 500 engine.

The professional series were designed to go 25 mph. I can't remember how they did it (gears, limiter) but I will try to find out.

Here is the answer I got in a e-mail
"the newer pro series had a tube going to the top of the carb & then over to a control valve that would limit the amount of travel of the diaghram. depending on what year, some of the pro series 4x4's had 425's & some had 500's engine. if its a 425, then they may need to replace the clutch components (springs & weights) & cdi/ igniter with a 4x2 (non-governed 425); the same would also apply for the 500 governed engine. But basically, there is going to be a control/ solenoid/ valve that limits the diaghram travel---shit-can the hose & seal the diagram cover, &/or replace cover & try that. the cdi may not need to be replaced."
