Hi I'm new to this forum and I just bought a used 2007 Rhino last month. I love it and it seems to work really well. I have a sound coming from the back when I come to a stop. It sounds like a ginding, crunching sound when I come to a stop. It is not always there and doesn't seem to happen if I am easy on the brakes coming to a stop. I asked the guy who I bought it from and he said that was normal, just the shaft mounted rear brake moving around. He said it does it on his (he has a 05 model, the one I bought was his sons)
Does anyone else have this problem? If they do, is it something I need to worry/do something about? Or is it just an annoying thing? Thanks in advance for the help. My wife and I really like the Rhino and it has been super useful (and fun!!!) tool. Thanks Eric

I have some sounds too. I question if it's not aftermarket pads that cause it. The replacements could be grabing harder than stock. I have researched this since it has come up with mine and the only other is torque related to the mounting itself. I believe the aftermarket is more understandable.

Mine does it too on a hard stop. It is like a combination of brake and clutch fighting each other :?: if that makes any sense :?

Mine too... I think it is a common issue.

Thanks for the advice. I don't think my rhino has after market pads on the back. I'll keep an eye on the sound and see what happens. It might have something to do with stopping hard. The clutch might still be engaged will I'm trying to stop with the brakes.

Yamaha replaced gobs and gobs of the rear brakes at the Rally in Moab last week for that reason. - Mike

I've had this problem before also. mine was caused by accidently driving around witht the parking break on....hahaha mine will still do 50+ witht the parking break on though...hahaha
Anyways, it's not bad and it's not worth changing the pads out either. I just left mine it eventually went away.

It is the pads. After the great Yamaha guy at the UTV rally replaced mine they have never acted up again. I expect they will if I keep forgeting about the park brake.
