Re: Rhino - RZR - Teryx HID Stock Replacements

Josh. The 6" BTS cans too big (I will return the one you let me borrow for test fit today)! I finished the retro-fit in the 4" Baja Designs and got the tube depth correct - holy sh__ !  Can't wait to test them on the trail... they are really throwing light.

Re: Rhino - RZR - Teryx HID Stock Replacements

Here is a little info and photos of my HID install. Bought 2 of the BTS replacement kits from Josh. Intstalled the replacements - that was easy  smile  Wanted to retro-fit my Baja Design cans - mostly because they are 4" and look good - that was the hard part  :?

Stock lighting

Baja Setup

Modified setup - had to ad custom washers to shim tube to the right position for the Baja reflector and fab (er hack) and new retainer clip (damn I wish I had more tools... like a laithe  )

Mounted ballasts on aluminum angle - only thing I am not happy with was the relay cluster  roll

With HID's! Baja's mounted higher - hood rubs the Baja cans but opens OK. Wanted them higher so I can add a winch - ordered a Viper 4000 today...

Tried to take some photos of the difference in light, but they just didn't turn out. You will have to take my word for it - they are bright  8)  8)  8)

Re: Rhino - RZR - Teryx HID Stock Replacements

I got my stock BTS light replacements installed last night, VERY impressive big_smile . I would recommend anyone looking for alot of light to get these from Josh. The stock replacements are easy to install in less than an hour and put out awesome light  . I used wire taps instead of cutting the stock harnesses off. this way I could change back in a matter of minutes too. wink

Are we camping yet?

Re: Rhino - RZR - Teryx HID Stock Replacements

Guys,

When you replace the stock lights with HID what do you plan to do when passing people in the other direction?
My experience so far is that I am blinded by the HIDs.

Re: Rhino - RZR - Teryx HID Stock Replacements

Get HID's and blind them back.  smile

You can alwasy slightly steer away from oncoming traffic.  Or... You could also adjust the headlight beam slightly down.

Re: Rhino - RZR - Teryx HID Stock Replacements

Yeah, I'm gonna think that over.

Seriously I meet a lot of other riders on mountain roads where steering away is not an option.
Not sure i want to pull over and point the HIDs in the ditch each time I pass someone.

Maybe a cheap set of flood lights could be used for "dims" when passing.
