Re: New Rhino

Hey guys,

I am new to the forum and I am about to pull the trigger on a new Rhino. I have never owned one before, nor have I ever been in one. I am an avid motocrosser, snomobiler and jet skiier. Someone told me these things are powerful enough to have some real fun in, but how fast do they really go? Will they spin the back tires? Can you drift them under power? and can you really jump them without breaking them in half? I have also heard they are boring (don't kill the messenger). Obviously, I am about to throw down some serious coin, so I thought I'd ask the experts. Any and all info is welcomed and appreciated.

Re: New Rhino

I am no expert - but I will tell you how I made my decision. I rode motocross in my youth, rent snowmachines occasionally, snow ski and jet ski (99 Sea Doo XP limited). Just about bought a WR450 (me) and TTR230 (wife). My wife has no riding experience, I decided I would break something (46 year old bones) if I had a WR under me. Decided the Rhino was something we could do together and have fun, it has exceeded our expectations. We like being side x side  wink  Stock Rhino will do 40mph - with CDI 45-50+. You won't do a lot of tire spinning, or drifting (although taking it to rolling point might be fun), but it will climb    - exceeded all my expectations. The aftermarket for them is big - you want a Supercharger-Double HP? (you will definately spin the tires)  Lift kits, extended A-Arms, and the list goes on.

Bought a 07' Sport and have spent 2k on accessories - new wheels + radials, CDI, K&N, RAIS TUBE, Exhaust tip and re-jetted - it performs great, it won't spin the tires much unless in loose dirt or sand - I am running 12"  wide Maxis Bighorn radials and they "stick".

Check out the photo Gallery on this site to get a feel for what others are doing. Rhino's are a lot of fun, different than MX - but fun.

Re: New Rhino

Go rent one, you'll end up buying one. My best advise to you would be to wait a month or 2. Polaris is coming out with the rzr. I am not a fan, but you might want to check into them. The sideXside market is about to see a few changes and you may just want to watch for a few a see what happens.
