I had a buddy trying to get me to buy one. He was getting a good deal on something like 10 or more of them if they were all purchased at the same time. I decided not to get one for many reasons but I never did play around with one or anything so I have no real reasons why not to get one.
Stick with a name you can trust and know you will be able to get parts from in the future.

We have been a dealer for Joyner for almost 2 years and will admit they have had there problems. The good news is they have also come along way and have some really impressive vehicles on the market. The new Trooper 1100cc is awsome in every way including but not limited to quality. I do recomend you make sure and by the unit from a dealer that will take care of you and your vehicle as they have problem like all brands do.

It's impossible not to buy stuff made in China. Look around your house, half of the stuff there, including your home theater electronics is made in China. The problem with China made stuff is the company producing the stuff, not the fact that it's made in China. When it comes to anything that might need service, make sure the company selling it stands behind it with parts and service.

I have ridden a Trooper 1100. Fast, comfortable, seemed capable.
I'd be concerned more about the dealer than the rig.
Most of them seem to be selling RVs and an occasional Joyner on the side.
Not a plan for getting great service.

I do understand your concern about the dealer thing but you can always get what you need from a good established dealer like us if you need parts. The service end is not a problem as the unit is more like a car than a ATV. We have two new 1100's we are blowing out for dealer cost as we are really overstocked with the economy being what it is. The units have been pretty much trouble free with the exception of the occasional blown fuse when the fan goes under water.

I have a Joyner Trooper T2. I purchased mine a few months ago and I have to tell you guys that this thing is AWESOME. It kicks the pants out of a rhino in every way hands down. It's more powerful than a RZR by far and will go more places, excluding sand. The Troopers suck in sand because they're heavy...but they've got the power to back them up. It's bottom end USABLE power though.....and in the sand you really would prefer to have high rev power.
In any case, I would recommend anybody to get one..but I'll offer the following advice:
1) The trooper is a new product offered as of late last year. Since it is less than a year old they've discovered issues and offered replacement parts. When purchasing, make sure to buy the 2nd generation that they began releasing this past summer. You can tell it from the others because it has a winch mounted high in the front end rather than from the tow bracket. This generation has other upgrades as well such as reinforced diff brackets and more refined suspenson.
2) Insist on taking delivery with a CV driveline already installed. They released this driveline after complaints of U-joint failures. This driveline is stout and bad ass!
3) Install limiting straps in the rear if you plan to jump. This is just common sense.
On another note regarding parts availability, realize that this machine (unlike all others) is built on automotive technology. Any part on the engine or frame can be purchased at your local autoparts store. Realize that the chinese rip off EVERYTHING so pretty much every part on this buggy has a japanese passenger car equivalent that can be purchased at a local autoparts store for typical discount prices rather than go through a motorsports place and paying their huge markup.
These things come with rear mounted aluminum radiators, automotive fuel pumps and fuel regulators, automotive engines that use regular car oil, an inline 4 cylinder that's fuel injected, a stainless fuel cell, plus front and rear lockers. They are heavy...because they are built solid. Plus if you look you can purchase them for 12k out the door. The couple times I have needed parts, I called Joyner direct (they're in arizona) and they sent me the parts I needed free of charge and I installed them myself. Personally I'd rather deal with a company that sells a few hundred units instead of a couple hundred thousand units. I'd rather talk to someone named Joe or Bob or Mike and explain my concerns instead of calling Yamaha's 800 number or trying to plead my case to a dealer that really only wants to know me for as long as it takes to make the initial sale.
Food for thought.
