Re: Are windshields worth the $$$

I'm new to the RZR world.  I do mostly trail riding and some sand dune riding.  It's starting to get cold in my neck of the woods.  The cold air on the face is quite brisk.  I'm not planning to get a full cab.  Does a windshield make a big difference?  And is necessary to have a roof if I get a windshield?

Re: Are windshields worth the $$$

They are good to have and I would get one that removes easy, they keep a lot of the dirt out of your face and help in the cold but there is a big down side, You will lose a lot of top end due to the added air drag from the windshield  .

Re: Are windshields worth the $$$

i'm running with a heavy glass Rangerwear windshield on my Ranger XP.  the biggest drawback is that it sucks all the dust into the cab.   i'm just a big dust ball after riding.   it's nice to have when it's raining.....or if it's cold.

btw....i also have a plastic roof.   it's nice having shade in the desert sun when stopping for a break.

Re: Are windshields worth the $$$

I have never personally ran a windshield, My friend did put one on his RZR and it knocked nearly 5 mph of the top end, In dusty conditions i use my dirt bike goggles and a bandanna over my face.

Thanks for the input guys.  Smokem, Does the roof help slow down the dust coming in when your windshield is in place?

....been/was told by others in another forum that the only way that i'm going to be able to reduce the dust coming in is to either put a full cab or at least put a back canvas flap behind me.  so........now i'm going to try making one to see if it helps.  i'm keeping a roof on regardless.  i need leg minders but really hate the idea being "confined."  if my windshield was plastic i'd drill holes in it.

btw.....the dust is coming in from the sides.  not the top.
