Hi all, just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Jay, i just bought a 08 Rhino 700 about a month ago. It's just the green base line model, and is bone stock at the moment. I've actually started a build project on it.
The only thing i've found about the Rhino i don't like so far is, by the time you get the extended roll cage and the 42" back seat installed, there is barely enough room for a child in the back. My girlfriend has 3 kids, and the reason we bought the rhino is for family fun. So i'm attempting a custom build, i hav'nt seen done before.
I've started with a custom bumper and roll cage i've built. It's been a slow go so far, but hopefully will turn out like a want in the end. I'll try to keep you all posted on the build.

sounds like an interesting project Jay. Post some photos of the Rhino along the way as you continue to make progress on your build.

Ok. so i'm finally about finished on this project. I will try to get some pics up as soon as i get them down loaded. Sorry i don't have many pics of the progress along the way, i guess like an idiot i spent more time working on it, then taking pictures.
I just finished painting it, now hopefully come the weekend i'll get it put together. I've managed to install a 48" back seat, along with 2 five point, and 1 three point harness for the kids. I've put an aluminum roof on.
The roll cage does step up 4 3/4" in the rear. But i tried to build it big enough for a normal size human, and allow them to fit comfortably. All and all i'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Can't wait for us to get it out and put it to the test.

looks good. I like the extra head room. Are you going to put a top on or leave it open?

Ok so i'm happy as hell with the way everything turned out. I Just got back form taking the Rhino out on a test run. We didn't go far, just down and around this canal by my house. I took my step dad who is well over 6' and close to 250 lbs. (obviously he rode in the front with me) But My buddy rode in the back. He's 5' 10" 200 lbs. He had plenty of leg and head room ( at least an inch and a half from the roof, to the top of his head. As a matter of fact he commented and said it was more comfortable then riding up front. We played on some small hills in and out of the canal, and the Rhino handled wonderful. So i'm feeling safe to assume it should handle great with my family, which is the reason i built it.
Here are some pics i promised, sorry about the mud couldn't resist!

Mud=character Nice job! Enough headroom for grownups. Let us know how the rear springs handle it.

LOL! yeah funny you should ask. I have lot's of what's next! Probably for now, i'm adding fender flares, i've ordered 1.5" spacers ( but, not sure if that's what i want to go with now that yamaha's adding spacers to the rear. ) I need to build a door for the rear seat storage. Probably not going to do any engine mods. I'm slowly realizing the more shit you tweak......the more stuff you break. (i've learned this the hard way with sleds i've owned in the past.) So engine wise i'll probably keep it stock. Just change the look's a bit.

I agree with you 100% on the kids not minding how it is. If it wasn't the fact that i had to haul 3 of them, I would have just gone with the Side x Side package. But unfourtunatly the 42" just wasn't big enough.
I built the seat base from scratch. There's a whole weekends worth of thought and work there. I've had a few comments on it and say i over built it, and hopefully their right.! lol
