Utah OHV street legal information

well.....i'm feeling like the happiest man in Utah right now! My Ranger is now street legal as of today!!!

It wasn't without some hassle though. The motorcycle inspector wouldn't allow my tires because they say on them "not for highway use." I told him that the tires were not an issue. He gave me the telephone number for the D.M.V. and told me to call them. I did and a woman told me to have the inspector call her. We got it straightened out! It was the first ATV/UTV inspection for the Emissions on 600. They thought the Ranger was amazing. i told`m to expect seeing a variety of UTV's because other inspection stations refused to inspect the Ranger. Hurah for Emissions!!!

i will be on the streets in Moab next month during the rally!

You have to love rookies! I had a copy of the state requirements from the Utah highway patrol that I would recommend anyone registering or inspecting to take with them to simplify things.

:idea: One thing to consider is be courteous to park entrance fees and the Blue ribbon Coalition. Our registration fees may not reach the places that used to recieve a portion so we need to help protect our off-road rights as well.

as for that. wait to you hear the "rest of the story. Just last week i renewed the OHV sticker thinking that i'd get a creditwhen did get the plates. we have the Utah Side by Side Group ride this Saturday and i needed something! NO refund-NO credit. So...at least i donated this year. However, i think $ 103 dollars is a bit high. Then again, i'm old.....what do i know! i've had a motorcycle license since the 80's (started late in life)so that wasn't an issue for me. my concern was for next month. as in getting from the KOA in moab to the arena and getting gas. it should be better for Sand Hollow State Park and up at the `Gorge too.

i didn't think Utah would ever allow us to be street legal.

Do you think that eventually that either the Moab or Blackhills UTV Rally will be what Sturgis is to the Harley riders?

We all got hit the same way :evil: . Badley, Brad777 and myself all paid the extra, non-refundable fee's as well. It is a joke but I think we will get away with it down to Moab unless we have un-licensed people ruining it for us. We need to get from the KOA also.

we are working on access from the koa. corey and jack foy are working with the locals that they know in moab trying to get this taken care of......I'm jealous of you street legal guys :cry:

How about us out of staters who are street legal. We are comming to MOAB for the rally and haven't heard anything concerning out-of-state license requirements. Do any of you know or can point me in the right direction for info ? I am licensed in WY. Thanks.

I have contacted the UHP and they will follow up with the issue of Out of staters. I think if they meet Utah law requirements and have a plate and registration from their state they will be OK. I will post the UHP answer as soon as I receive it.

:idea: I would make sure that on the UTV rally web site you post it so we don't turn Moab upside down and anger :evil: the law enforcement.

The problem lies with the plate. I can't get one in cali. If most folks were willing to get all the equipment but had no plate I wonder if they would look the other way? We have also asked if we could get some type of 4 day permit if we had all the equipment. I would gladly put the stuff on and buy a permit if they would do it.

Without a plate they would most likely stop you. I think Moab should allow an alternative to those in other campgrounds across town. All it takes is that punk to do 10 over the speed or be unsafe to stop that, just like last year. I can't emphasize enough to let others know ahead of time the laws of the grat UTAH state.
