When do you know its time to change the drive belt? Some say to measure the width.Some say when you loose top speed or when it slips at low speed. I don't want to loose it on the trail or in the dunes.

I wouldn't worry about it until at least 1500 miles unless you know you have abused it.

I would agree changing the belt still 1500 miles is safe enough but the sooner the better.
