Latest up to date info for out-of-staters for a letter asking about Street legal in other states to be used in Utah:
Thank you for using the Utah Department of Public Safety Online Feedback System. I've been asked to respond to your inquiry regarding the use of street-legal ATVs in Utah that are registered in other states.
Currently Utah Code 41-6a-1509(5)(a-b) permits the operation of off-highway vehicles that are legal to be operated in another state to be operated in Utah. In accordance with the mentioned code the privilege is granted with two requirements:
1. The street-legal ATV and operator are subject to all the rules and requirements of 41-6a-1509.
2. The state they are registered in reciprocates the same privilege to those registered in Utah (you would need to contact the respective states for their participation).
The entire code can be viewed at: http://www.le.utah.gov/UtahCode/getCode … 41-6a-1509
I hope this answers your question. If I have failed to address any portion of your question or new ones arise, feel free to phone me at (801)596-9248.
Sincerely,
Sgt. Jason S. Kelsey
Utah Highway Patrol
Vehicle Safety Section

I'm officially street legal. I finished wiring up the license plate LEDs last night and took it for the safety inspection this afternoon. I was the third UTV the shop had inspected...it easily passed. I then tried out the DMV in Draper and got the rest of the business taken care of. I even got a Utah plate with the arch...appropriate for Moab next week.
I'm excited for Moab...anyone else?

If you was on main St. in Logan it would be considered a highway. They shouldn't be able to give you any static on the local roads other than Main. In Moab we will not be able to drive the main drag unless escorted.

I have to find an alternate route from my Motel in Moab to the arena (UTV Rally) or KOA. Maps do not show any cross or back roads from my motel Motel is 840 S. Main (4 lane - hwy 191) - any ideas? Satellite view makes me think I just run through a few parking lots and a field to get to 400 E. - East to Millcreek - circle around to Spanish Valley Drive and then south to arena (scenic route). I do not think Satellite map has been updated in a while :?

They are looking at modifying the law again. This time it would remove the single lane law to include double lanes as long as there wasn't a on/off designated entrance to it. It would be greatfor Moab, poison spider trails and other access.
