Re: Ranger 2x4

I'm looking to buy a side by side.  I found a 2005 Ranger 2x4 that's the right price.  But, will I be sorry that I didn't get a 4x4?
I would be riding on ATV trails and dirt roads.

Re: Ranger 2x4

Lets put it this way, I run 90% of the time in 2 wheel but I have 15+ more horse power and can push it harder and that helps me  a lot to stay out of 4X4 mode. UTVs are heavier then ATVs buy some 600+ lbs and if you get in the sand stuff you will need the 4 wheel drive. On steep hill climes where the power to weight ratio is in favor of a quad with two wheel drive you will need 4 wheel drive on a UTV for the same stuff. on basic ATV trails you should be OK but i always end up using the all wheel drive switch at some point on any ride because i get adventuress  big_smile .

Re: Ranger 2x4

I agree with DALE, its not absolutely essential to have, but if it gets a little sticky, man your going to wish you had it.

i hardly ever ride with my AWD engaged. If you like mud/snow steep hills, you would definitely want it.

If it's not fun why do it?

Re: Ranger 2x4

2X4 will work fine on trails and dirt roads like everyone else has said but if I were you I would invest in a winch and a few tow straps as well for sure, You never know what you will get into.  tongue
