Re: Exhaust Pipe Cherry Red

I just installed the Dual HMF exhaust on my 660 Rhino and left the bed off to do some work.

Finished working for the night last night and drove the rhino about 500 yards to the garage and noticed that where the pipes mount to the engine were glowing cherry red

Friend of mine said its due to not being jetted right and if keep running it with stock jet that it could burn up the piston rings or worse

Called HMF and asked them about it and said that there would be some redness but not just glowing red and suggested I get a jet kit...(will be here later in the week)

Anyone ever notice this before and anyone have any suggestions?

thanks in advance

Pete

Re: Exhaust Pipe Cherry Red

You are not jetted properly. When you change somthing like the pipe and or intake you MUST rejet or problems are likely and you will not get the performance out of your new pipe. Any other questions that you need help with?

Good luck  big_smile

Jet kit will be in end of the week and will get that changed as well as K&N Air filter and snorkel the air box like alot folks have to reduce cab noise already have everything else snorkeled

Then fab up snorkel for the duals and have stacks but still be able to use my tilt bed

Re: Exhaust Pipe Cherry Red

I've got a 06 stock 660 rhino except for a black rhino CDI that does the same thing... does it need to be rejetted

Re: Exhaust Pipe Cherry Red

rejetting or map changing is required when there are any changes to airflow or fuel, just a rule of thumb. glow hot means the engine is running to lean, too much air. detonation can occur and pistonbs can be cracked and worst.
