Re: Quick Help If Possible - Jet Kit & Mix screw

Installed the Dual HMFs a few weeks ago and just now gettin round to installin the jet kit

Put in a 180 main jet which was recomended by HMF

My main question is...do I need to adjust the Fuel/Air Mix screw which is on the bottom of the carb or just the Idle Mix screw?

If I need to adjust the air/fuel on the bottom of the carb which way do i need to turn it...out/down or in/up?

On my honda foreman I installed a larger main jet (not sure the number) again recomended by HMF and only had to adjust the idle screw and have never had any problems and that was over a year or so ago

Anybody on here today that can offer some quic help?

Thanks alot

Pete

Re: Quick Help If Possible - Jet Kit & Mix screw

My understanding is the A/F screw on the bottom of the carb controls mixture - idle to 1/4 throttle, but also has an effect accross the entire range. I would bet you will need to adjust it to dial it in. I can't remember if turning it out adds air or fuel... anyone? It is possible you will need to shim your needle too.

Pete, this link has some great info on tuning the Rhino carb. This site is due to go down, so if you find something useful - print it. Specifically look at "Rhino Jetting Procedure" and "Mikuni Performance Tuning". Hope this helps...

Re: Quick Help If Possible - Jet Kit & Mix screw

Thanks for the link and info.

I plan to snorkel the air box to the front like a lot of folks do

Only other question I had was if I were to go back with the stock exhaust along with the snorkeled air box would I need to go to smaller jet or could I leave the larger jet that I have in it now

Thanks
Pete

Re: Quick Help If Possible - Jet Kit & Mix screw

I have stock exhaust with a 2" tip and K&N filter. After snorkeling mine, I ended up back at stock jetting.

I have since moved the air box to the front and eliminated about 5' of hose - more hose = more restriction and leaner jetting.

Re: Quick Help If Possible - Jet Kit & Mix screw

Well after the time spent puttin the exhaust on and ridin around for awhile the other day I'm goin back to stock exhaust...just too loud for ALL around use such as playing and hunting and working.

Havent ran the snorkel hose yet but may just end up moving the entire air box to the front like you are talking about badley

I also plan to build a bolt on/off snorkel for the muffler

My question now is...With the snorkeled air box and snorkeled stock muffler...do yall think I could stick with the larger jet or should i just go back to stock? I am alot lower elevation then you badley and most on the site but lookin for advice from anyone

Re: Quick Help If Possible - Jet Kit & Mix screw

Is this a 660 or a 700? How did you get the exhaust out easy, I can't get mine back in without pulling the engine or removing the head pipe? roll

Are we camping yet?
