Re: Ranger XP 800 or Prowler 1000

Ready to pull the trigger on one of these, can anyone give me some pros and cons. I know Prowler a little smaller bed, bench vs. bucket, less towing capacity, but more power. I'm looking for something kinda all around, but don't want a golf cart, how do they handle? I can get them for around the same price, maybe a little less for the XP. I know this is biased so I'm posting on Polaris forum too.

Re: Ranger XP 800 or Prowler 1000

They are both great machines and all i can say is do a search on this site and way out all the options. The rangers have been out a lot longer and have had a way longer track record then the others. Asking a Polaris guy like me if he would rather own a prowler over a ranger after a flawless record with my present Ranger would be unfair but hear it is my answer. I would only buy the ranger and only the ranger because it has never let me down and has always done what i have asked of it. Go to the Yamaha site and they will say the same for there rhino as well as arctic cat and Kawasaki, This debate will go on forever and ever....

Re: Ranger XP 800 or Prowler 1000

I cant say what one is better because I dont own either but I have heard of alot more people haven trouble with the Arctic Cats, seems like they have some trouble with rearends. If its size that you are looking for and the Rhinos and RZRs are to small check out the Kawaski Teryx. They seem to be roomy and plenty of power and I have not heard anything bad about them yet. If it was between Polaris or Arctic Cat Id go Polaris But..... I like my Rhino.  big_smile

Re: Ranger XP 800 or Prowler 1000

I do not own either, but I have heard a lot more about Prowler problems than the Ranger. I agree with Titan, Teryx is a good machine - heard about a few issues with them going through belts, but one tough machine. If size matters the Ranger is the only way to go... 3 across seating, excellent payload, proven machine. I am partial to the Rhino also, but have owned a RZR for several months now and other than a loose sway bar and brake calipers I am completely happy with Polaris.
