hows evrybody doing? im new to the site and have some questions. 1st of i have a 2006 polaris 500 ranger and it has i believe it has a 3 inch lift with 28 inch tall tires that are like mud wisers. the issue is that it has gone through 2 belts in 227hrs and now the wounderfull dealer is telling me that it needs clutches now that it is out of warranty, imagene that at 1600.00 dollars. does any body have any suggestions on clutches for my rig? we use it any where from sea level to 7500 feet above and it is primarily used on sand trails and some rock crawling and woodsy type trails. its never been aboused and has always been serviced regulerly. is this a comen problem with the belts and clutches? also is there a beter belt to use then the stock? any and all help will be greatly appreciated. thnx in advance big doug

First off i almost missed your post because i don't normally look in the photo gallery on technical questions and normally don't look here much at all. You never mentioned that you ever installed a clutch reprogramming kit which is normally required for the use of taller tires and that kit reprograms the drive and driven clutch for the taller tires and also the kits adjust for the altitude that you mostly ride at. The kits depending on manufacture are set from 0-3000 feet and 3000-6000 feet and so on. the price for your clutches seem high and normally last thousands of hours if properly set up and taken care of. Without seeing what you have and more details on what your dealer said has gone bad and maybe some pictures i would not be able to make a guess and would say that he may be wrong. Dirty dawg performance as well as EPI sell belts as well as clutch tuning kits for your machine. 2 belts in 227 hrs is not normal and it could be caused by a broken engine mount or bad and improper belt alignment as well as what your dealer said if he is right.

I am not sure what happened but I posted a response yesterday and it vanished. Any way i did go through all the numbers and they are all for the primary and secondary clutches. Two of the part numbers are complete units and some of the numbers are extra parts that already come with the complete units. I in no way can understand how everything in the drive and driven clutches can go bad, it is just impossible for that to happen. But anyway for you case i would go with EPI on this and i did find out that they sell rebuild kits as well for your units. On the site you can chose what kit to use for the upgrade as well and buy a new belt. here is the link.

The rebuild kits you will only need if the clutches are wore out. The clutch upgrade kit is what you will need to set up for tire size and altitude and the type of ride style or use. they also have the tools needed and 3 levels of drive belts.
