Re: New Ranger Heat (Flesh Burn) Issues?

Hi all. I am new to this forum so greetings. I have read on numerous blogs about flesh burns (mild) from the knees down with the 09' Ranger models. I have had 5 polaris machines (and love em) from RZR to Quads and heat was always an issue with the quads but with a press of the thumb, that got resolved. Has anyone encountered shin burn with the new rangers? I live out west where its very hot and the last thing I want to do is bake even more! People have stated that if they new of this heat issue, they would NOT have bought thier ranger. I am on the fence with buying a ranger because of this issue. Thanks

Re: New Ranger Heat (Flesh Burn) Issues?

I have only heard of excessive heat coming from under the dash from the radiator on the 2009 models only and would have thought this would be fixed on the 2010 models. I have never heard of people getting hurt over this and only the problem being an annoyance only that i am sure with a little fabrication work could be fixed all together on the 2009 models. Maybe even using the fix from the 2010 models on the 2009 models if it is available.

Re: New Ranger Heat (Flesh Burn) Issues?

Thanks for the feedback. I dont believe anyone was actually hurt, just mild burns which were enough to be annoying, not to mention them wishing they didnt buy that particular machine. I had already planned on throwing in some extra tin skin to help knock down the heat a little but was suprised to read just how bad it was. You mentioned using thier (polaris) fix in the 2010 model and applying it to the 09s...  Is there a fix out there that you know of other than good old garage skills??? thanks RANGERDALEXP!

Re: New Ranger Heat (Flesh Burn) Issues?

I do not know of a fix as of now but I would assume that since Polaris was made aware of this heat issue on release of the 2009 models that they would have updated the 2010 model over this issue. Until the parts manuals are available from Polaris little is known on what has changed from 2009 and 2010 other then power steering and a bigger engine. Because the 2010 now runs what looks like last years RZR engine and being equipped with power steering now i see no need to look at the 2009 models as an option anymore.

Thanks for the info, appreciate it. getting off the subject, noticed your rolling in the F350 with Banks setup. What Banks products do you have on your rig? Ive got the complete Big Hoss Kit from remote PDA, Diesel tuner to pipes, turbo back. AWESOME STUFF!!! and what a HUGE difference.

Re: New Ranger Heat (Flesh Burn) Issues?

Running everything except the inter-cooler upgrade. After doing the research and talking to a few of my diesel mechanic friends that do upgrades to the 6.0 they said the inter-cooler was not needed on the 6.0 because it is big enough to do the job and it is much bigger then the ones in the 7.3 . The only issue i have is the PDAs do not like the heat in the cab during the hot months and I lost the first one the first month i installed the system. Now the second one is having battery issues and loses memory and wont boot on the cradle if the battery is dead and must be charged in the house before every use. It was a great idea but the palm ones may not have been the best choice for this application. Other then that it has a FS2500 to keep the oil clean and upgraded trans pan and diff pan for extra oil and i use nothing but synthetic oil throughout and air bags to tow the 16k of loaded fifth wheel.

Re: New Ranger Heat (Flesh Burn) Issues?

The heat issues have been taken care of on the 2010 and the parts will soon be available for the 2009 to take care of the same problem....

Re: New Ranger Heat (Flesh Burn) Issues?

Sorry for the lack of a speedy reply, been on a little vaca. Thanks again rangerdalexp. I feel ya on the PDAs. I am on my 3rd one due to the heat. I personally think banks mounting location was a very poor design and I ended up fabricating a cradle down by the aux. switches which has been awesome and out of direct sunlight. I also got in the habit of taking it out of the truck at all times during the summer months to avoid another $200 mistake.
Have you noticed a difference with the trans pan? My buddies swear by them but i dont tow nearly as much as you so i havnt pulled the trigger on that yet..

Re: New Ranger Heat (Flesh Burn) Issues?

The transmission pan is made by Mag-Hytec and it hold an extra 8 quarts of fluid. I did notice a good amount of drop in the transmission temp and it normally runs around the 180 range and about 190 if climing a good grade. The one big other thing i did was the rear Differential pan as well because someone that i knew with a little older truck was pulling around the same size trailer cross country and his diff was getting hot enough to bake the paint off the cover so he added the Mag-Hytec cover that adds around 2 quarts along with a diff temp gage and that seemed to help his problem out so i did the same when our truck was almost new. I still am thinking on a extra trans cooler that i will mount under the truck somewhere but it needs 1/2 inlet and outlets to remain the same size as the stock tubing. I do not want to mount it in front of the radiator because the factory already has to much junk there and do not want to block more air.

Re: New Ranger Heat (Flesh Burn) Issues?

I really never looked at them so I looked at the web site and was not impressed with the lay out. I was looking at the pictures and thought the fit and finish from what i saw was kind of weak as well as the look of the build. What I would like to know more about is the German built engine that shows a lot of promise. I would have to see one up close and in action to pass a final judgement on what they are   :!: .

Re: New Ranger Heat (Flesh Burn) Issues?

Thanks guys. Ya, I have done the usuall U-Tube vids on the Ruesch, never have seen one in person. I think the closest dealer to me is in Arizona (Noisy Toyz) and it hasnt sparked enough interest in me to warrant the drive down there. I know they inked a deal with ATK on 140HP motors but I havnt seen much info or specs on it yet. Lets face the facts gentlemen....140HP.... Thats a whole lot of WHOOP ASS!!!
