? about my 09 yamaha rhino 450

what would be the best way to get the most power out of my machine. I dont want to spend to much but everyone seems to tell me to get a k&N air filter and a dynojet jet kit. would this work.....any other suggestions? if i do add these 2 things, would i have to add something else to keep everything running properly or prevent over heating? thanks for any suggestions.

I added the K&N filter and Dynojet Kit, a 2" exhaust tip and CDI to my 660 right after I bought it. My opinion is that the K&N doesn't do enough to filter the small particles and if you run in dusty conditions will be sucking dirt into the engine - I believe I am burning a little oil now because of this. I just recently put the stock filter back in.

I have never been able to "Dial in" the Dynojet jets and needle. My machine was extremely finicky with DJ and I am now back to stock needle and jets (Mikuni) and it is running good. I think the power increase from these mods on the 660 was neglegible. I am of the opinion now that I will take smooth running and reliabilty over a little more power :?

If you are good at tuning (which I am not) I would add a pipe, better intake and CDI, but stick with the Mikuni jets and needle. Maybe the 450 behaves differently... anyone?

The biggest improvement on my friends 660 was the black rhino cdi then the pipe and the re jet of the carburetor. there was also a modification done to the carburetor that i did not see. It made it a little temperamental in cold weather starting so he keeps a can of ether around but it made a very slow machine 1 to 2 miles an hour faster then my 05 ranger XP on top end. Because of the 2005 Rangers gearing it makes it hard to break the 50 mph mark on stock size tires and you run out of RPM.

sure you will have to do a little fab work but you will get the most out of your ride for sure.
