#376 Re: Ranger and RZR Performance Mods » RZR Porting » 2009-11-23 19:32:46

The two people that specialize in this engine would be Dirty Dawg Performance and or Bikeman Performance. They specialize in the polaris engine and have been doing it for a while. They know there stuff and to go somewhere else would be like taking a Chevy engine to a ford expert for a rebuild and hop up. They at this time are the only people other then my self that i would trust....

Any good synthetic 0w40w or 5w40w weight oil will be fine for your polaris 500cc.

#378 Re: Ranger and RZR Performance Mods » 2010 Ranger HD Programmer » 2009-10-29 21:30:32

There is no programmer that will add much more power on a stock machine and to run a bigger tire size you will need a clutch change. You did not mention what year it was so i will guess it is a 2010 with the 800 engine :?:  The first thing i would do is replace the EFI intake boot and install the one used for the XP version because of the restrictor and then remove the limiter spacer in the primary clutch when you get the kit to reprogram the clutch system for the bigger tires and altitude. Unless you replace the cam and do a exhaust system do not waist  the money on the ecu  . Polarises do not respond as well as some other manufactures in this area and is a waist of money on a stock engine...

PS this was placed in the wrong thread so i moved it to where it should have been posted......

I would call him since every manufactures kits are somewhat different and he would know a good baseline for his kit if you tell him what you have and plan to do.....

Welcome to the forum sytfu.delinquent and titan has pretty much nailed it on the head. Remember most of the issues you have heard about the rzr was on the gen 1 versions back in 2007 and 2008 and most of the problems have been fixed on the 2010 models. Great photo also Titan big_smile .

The way the 850 engine it configured is why they will not install it in the RZR.....

#383 Re: General Polaris Ranger and Polaris RZR Discussions » xp 700 motor rbld. » 2009-10-21 21:50:06

Can piston rings be installed without pulling the motor and do they make oversize rings?

If it is as bad as you say it is you need to pull the engine because most likely the bores are damaged as well . It sounds like you are past the poor mans rebuild fix on this one  . As for doing it without pulling the engine i never done it and they do make oversize rings for it.....

I hate to say this but yes your engine is shot and needs to be torn down for a rebuild sad .

#385 Re: General Polaris Ranger and Polaris RZR Discussions » 2009 Crew OverHeating??? » 2009-10-19 15:40:14

Put the UTV with the front end up at a 45 deg angle and loosen the cap with the engine running and run the engine and rev it up every so often for 10 to 15 minutes. This will remove trapped air in the engine and the system. Also check to make sure the radiator is clear and the fan is coming on also make sure after it is warmed up that there is flow in the radiator if if there is no flow you need to test or change out the thermostat.....

#386 Re: General Polaris Ranger and Polaris RZR Discussions » Exhaust pipe glowing orange » 2009-10-14 18:14:29

Was riding today and i pulled my front cover off and noticed my exhaust pipe glowing orange where it comes out of the motor is this normal ?

Have you pulled out the plugs to see how it is burning. Glowing head pipe is usually an over rich condition because of unburnt fuel continuing to burn in the head pipe. It also could happen under a sevier lean conditions. If it is glowing a little in the dark that should be ok but a real bright glow is to hot.

#387 Re: General Polaris Ranger and Polaris RZR Discussions » Water and Moisture problem???? help » 2009-10-12 10:13:10

It is most likely where the plug wires goes into the head. Water can not escape the holes and gets trapped there till it evaporates and you have cross fire around the boot area. Start using a dielectric compound to seal the boot area...

This just an observation that i have seen over the past year that may help everyone. I do know that this site has a large number of Utah people here but there is also a lot of people from other parts of the country that use the site so if everybody can go to there profile and under location put where you live it will help for others to know what part of the country you come from  .

I know all about it but i personally did not think the stock system was too loud. I have never used this system from Benz but for your needs it may be perfect for you. If you do get it let us know what you think.....
