2002 RANGER SNORKEL?

I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2002 RANGER 500,WAS WONDERING IF I WOULD NEED A SNORKEL TUBE TO BE ABLE TO GO THROUGH DEEP WATER? IF SO, WHERE CAN I GET ONE OR IS IT EASIEST TO FABRICATE SOMETHING?

Would have answered this a while ago but I have had my diesel truck all apart because of injector problems along with some PCM electrical Issues, I also had to get it ready for our wonderful new smog inspections program that just started this month :evil: .

The system you have should be the same as mine and it already pulls air way above the level of the top of the engine so unless you plan on wearing scuba gear for yourself I don't think it is necessary for you

But dont forget to check all of the connections between the motor, filter and intake, you dont want to suck any water through an old weather cracked intake boot. :cry:

THANK YOU BOTH VERY MUCH,THAT MAKES ME FEEL BETTER ABOUT DRIVING IT THROUGH THE SWAMPS AROUND MY HOUSE,WHAT ABOUT THE DIFERENTIALS-ARE THE VENTS FOR THOSE LOCATED AT OR NEAR THE SAME LEVEL AS INTAKE? IVE SPENT ALOT OF TIME ONLINE WATCHING PEOPLE DRIVE THESE THROUGH DEEP WATER BUT WOULDNT DO IT MYSELF DUE TO THE COST OF FAILURES RELATED TO WATER INTAKE TO ENGINE AND DRIVE LINE..AFTER READING THESE POSTS I INSPECTED MY RANGER AND FOUND A TUBE THAT CAME LOOSE-WAS WIDE OPEN-LOOKS LIKE IT GOES TO THE TOP OF THE TRANS..THANKS AGAIN!!

Yes there was some mods, just after getting the injector problems fixed we then received the notice, they really blew it on this one because they sent the original renewal stating no smog required and then held the check and the tags for six weeks, with just 3 weeks till the registration was to expire they sent another notice that we incompleted the process and they now want the thing smogged now :x . It does have the banks six gun bundle and air intake, the air intake has the E.O. order but the six gun bundle does not at this time, according to my phone call to banks engineering they said they have submitted the paperwork to CARB for the E.O. orders but they are taking there sweet time to process them. They said the Exhaust is good as long as the Cat is installed but I will need to remove the Six Gun for the test. According to banks engineering the state has rushed this test program into law before they were ready, The whole thing is typical California government B.S :evil: , It goes in for testing on Monday .

As for your vent lines I would extend them as high as possable :idea:

THEY LOOK FOR ANY WAY THAT THEY CAN TAKE AS MUCH MONEY AS THEY CAN FROM YOU..MORE TESTING..MORE MONEY.SOUNDS LIKE A STRONG TRUCK..HERE IN MICHIGAN(NO EMISSIONS TESTING) WE RUN FLEX PIPE FROM TURBO TO 6INCH STACKS IN THE BED AND THE MORE SMOKE THE BETTER..LOL..I BET URS SOUNDS BETTER THOUGH...HOPEFULLY U GET THE GO AHEAD FOR IT..THANX AGAIN FOR THE ADVISE.. I THINK IM TAKING THE RANGER SWIMMING AFTER WORK..STILL A BIT COLD HERE 45ISH TODAY..BUT IT WILL BE FUN.

I cant ride my Rhino on the roads here in Maine but you can drive a rusted out 1970 Chevy that burns a gallon of oil every mile with no muffler through the state capital building and noone would say a word. go figure that one out.

TOOK MY RANGER SWIMMING OVER THE WEEKEND,REALIZED TWO THINGS.. :idea: ..A WINCH IS A MUST HAVE..AND OLD WORN DOWN TIRES WON'T DO YOU ANY GOOD IN A CREEK BED. .LOL..FUN TIMES!
