Re: 09 700 no power

Sometimes after I have been riding and once I shut my ranger off when I go to start it back up, it is running very sickly. No power, RPMS very low and speratic. Kind of like the brake is on and your trying to drive, but not exactly. Then once I shut the ranger off and immediatley start it back up most of the time it fixes the problem. Sometimes I may have to shut it off and start it back twice. Any ideas???

Know of anyone with the same model? Swap out the CDI and see if that corrects it.

Are we camping yet?

Re: 09 700 no power

I can't be sure about this, BUT...

It sounds like it's running on 1 cylinder.
It is quite possibly the Engine Control Module. (Computer) (About $300)
Under the drivers seat, in front of the storage box.

I had one go out, and what you are describing sounds very familiar.
Mine started running that way, and never went back though. (Not something you want to happen 50 miles from the trailhead)

Get that thing checked out before it leaves you stranded.

Re: 09 700 no power

Thanks, for the info.
Yea I called my nearest sevice place and they said they had never heard of it. So I was trying to do a little investigation of my own. One other thing I notice is the RPMs on the tach are real speratic at this time to. Like it's not reading correctly.  Which may support your statement.
Anyway I will have it checked, hate to be stranded.....
Thanks, again.

Could be your TPS is no good.Sounds more like that than your ECM.Do your self a favor if you want to do your own wrenching and buy a Service manual.

Welcome to the forum big_smile , Yes that could also contribute to the problem as well  . As long as the pump pressure was tested good it is more then likely would be TPS adjustment or sensor wink. The big problem is most people find out what the problem was and do not post a resulution on what it was so all people can have an idea as well :!: .

Re: 09 700 no power

Never found the root cause, but did find out a trick to keep it from happening.  When i go to start the bike, turn key on for like 2 seconds before I start the bike and there is no trouble.
