Re: Sure would like to plan a trip to the Piaute Trail in Utah

According to available information this would have to be a several day trip.  The time of the year is limited to see it all.  It is far to remote to ride it alone.  I have wanted to go for over a year. I guess late July thru October is prime time. Anybody interested?  Check out the ATVUtah.com site for information. I will be taking my Rhino and can't go on the ATV trails marked 50" only.
Thanks

Re: Sure would like to plan a trip to the Piaute Trail in Utah

I would go in a heartbeat if I had time. :?  This summer I found a few new areas down there and starting to take the side trails now exploring. I know the Marysvale area best but the fillmore to Richfield ride is also fun. Now would be the time to go to see the fall colors. Mabey if Moab doesn't fall through I could do it. Badley, interested?

Re: Sure would like to plan a trip to the Piaute Trail in Utah

Guys, keep me posted on what could happen.  I am going to Dumont Oct 24th and staying there until Sunday of Halloween weekend. I know we are pressed for time so keep me in the loop. Hopefully there are others that might want to be involved too.
Thanks,
Pat

Re: Sure would like to plan a trip to the Piaute Trail in Utah

Just curious. Do you guys just do day trips because of your location? I have two options, come with my toy hauler and try to stay in it at night or take the small trailer and plan on roughing it at night on the trail.
In the trailer it only takes me an hour to get out of bed and if I rough it it could be noon before I could get moving around. lol
I'm think of finding a place to park the trailer for the start and end of a particular trail and then moving to do the same the next day. Is that possible or practical.
Thanks,
Pat

Re: Sure would like to plan a trip to the Piaute Trail in Utah

In Marysvale you can stay in a cabin at Liz and Charlies rv for around 35 a night, might be a little more now.

For us we like at least a four day weekend so we can go on at least two day rides, one east and one west. There is so much to see in that area you don't feel cheated if you don't get tons of mileage in. You don't need to move around since Marysvale is in the center of the action. I need about two weeks to block it in my schedule to plan it right now.

Sounds good to me. Let me know what you guys decide.  I'm free at any time except the week of the 24th of Oct thru Haloween.

Re: Sure would like to plan a trip to the Piaute Trail in Utah

I am hedging a bit  :?  I am thinking if I make a Fall trip, it should be Moab. Temperature would be better (Jana is cold blooded) wink Would you be interested in Moab sardawg? It would probably be twice the mileage to get there, but worth it. Like Ryan I would like to do a Friday + Sat. ride - Thurs. - Sun travel days. Would like to do both, but I have been slammed with work and invest. prop. Last Fall Moab trip was awsome and I was looking foward to this fall. Jared are you and the crew planning trip? Ryan, you have to go  big_smile

I agree with Ryan about Marysvale. I would stay at Rose Ranch again - that was awesome.

That's a possibility.  If the time works out and you folks don't mind me tagging along.  I haven't been there either. I could plan the trip to Piaute for nest season.  Retirement offers it's benefits?B^

Re: Sure would like to plan a trip to the Piaute Trail in Utah

I'd go to moab around the 15th of October. That is really the only window I have since it's UEA for the kids. I went to the dunes last saturday with the atv's but need to get the rhino out too. Thinking of a Saturday ride if anyone is interested.

Re: Sure would like to plan a trip to the Piaute Trail in Utah

Hey there....

Been followin` this thread for a spell....but have actually been waiting for the M word to appear.   This old fart would love to tag along on another Moab adventure.  The Mrs. isn't "into it" so to speak, so i'd be ridin`alone.   Gonna sqeeze in a few Saturday rides in LS before Santa arrives too.  Unfortunately, this weekend is shot to hell.  Gotta keep her happy......don'tch-yuh-know(!)

Still lookin/waiting for the dealer/anybody to come up with a solution to getting a legal and visible lighting solution to make my Ranger XP street legal.

But anyways, if you can put up with this old drinker/smoker/hellraiser...........i'd like to join you on the trails.

Re: Sure would like to plan a trip to the Piaute Trail in Utah

BTW.....sardawg.   i'm retired and i know of another couple in the same shoes.   We're scattered by distance but with time on our hands.  It would be nice to have a round up of old strays and do a ride sometime.   While these kids are workin, we can be playing:)

Re: Sure would like to plan a trip to the Piaute Trail in Utah

U bet smokem.  Old age does have it's advantages.  The wife isn't into riding and she has her interests that I can't handle.    So I am free to go about anytime I have the bucks for fuel.
I retired in Jan and am just finishing up my shop in the back of my property.  final thing is th electric. Hope to have that done next week.
I am going to Dumont for a week nl ate October but would love to meet some folks at Moab.
So to summerize, just about any time is good for me.

Re: Sure would like to plan a trip to the Piaute Trail in Utah

Wish you guys would stop talking about retirement  roll  I am jealeous  smile As far as I am concerned, the more the merrier  lol   I am ready for some weekend rides also... except this one. Ryan, are you saying Moab Oct. ? Jana has Fridays off. I could be in Moab Thurs. evening Oct 16th (late), ride Friday and Sat. and maybe a short ride Sunday and head home. What do you think sardawg/smokem?

Re: Sure would like to plan a trip to the Piaute Trail in Utah

dond't dthink I can do that one.  I have that week long trip planned for Oct 24 and beyond.  The disadvantage of early retirement is limited funds sad for todays high gas prices.
I will watch the site for further opportunities to ride with you folks.  Looking forward to it.
