Well I figured I would start a post like this just to pool everyone's knowledge and opinions. Not having the $$ to do some serious stuff to my RZR leaves me to wonder what others have done that are strapped for cash as well. Post anything and everything you might think is worthwhile to improve on the looks, performance, or functionality. (both RZR and Ranger)
I for one installed a couple small things that make riding a little easier.
Rearview mirror from cabelas:
UTV Deluxe Rearview Mirrors
Item:UK-521950 $69.99
GPS mount:
RAM® GPS Holder
Item:XK-523059 $69.99
Grab handles:
UTV Grab Handles
Item:IK-521964 $24.99
Also took the bungee spider net from my bike and stretched it over the bed, works great for wood, found them for around 7-10 bucks.
I probably change my citizenship for her.....
Never heard of it? Is Ruesch the model or mfgr? just curious
Thx Dale, like I said I may think about it this winter (My garage isn't heated so working with metal parts during winter just stinks) Sorry about all the questions but, like I said this whole belt drive thing is relatively new to me so my confidence level working on them is rather low. Might just look into a clutch kit. Would a mod like this void a warranty BTW?? I purchased a 5 year warranty on this thing and not looking to blow it. I realize that they have to prove that a failure was directly related to the aftermarket part but if I were to royally screw something up, I can just imagine the BS that would come along with trying to have it fixed under warranty. Thanks!
Unless you cover/fill every hole with a rust preventative its going to kill it. Rhino would probably be your best bet. Have a shop tear it down and coat the thing real well and you should get a lot more life out of it. If any rust does poke through, nip it in the butt right away. Beaches are probably the worst environment for any vehicle.
Are you modeling this after something you saw or is this your own creation? SICK RZR BTW  looks, evil
No because it is one of the modifications that they do to the RZR-s to get more top end out of it and they have removed it on the 2010 standard RZR.
I did some quick searching for removing the clutch spacer. Found that a bunch of people were snapping belts shortly after they removed the spacer. Others were arguing that the belts may have already been stresses/broken in incorrectly. However a different guy said that it was the first mod he did when he got his RZR with 0hrs and he snapped his belt shortly thereafter. Of course he may have beat the bag out of it but it leads me to be a bit skeptical of the mod. Since they removed the spacers on the new RZRs, have they changed the pulley design at all? If not I will be removing some extra parts from mine this winter Just want to know, if it saves me $80-100 it would be worth it.
If you want you can remove the clutch limiter and get 3 to 6 mph as well....
Would you run the risk of throwing a belt if you did that?
So how long would it take to change a belt on the RZR in the field? I don't think it goes over belt changing in the manual, correct? Just looks like a royal pain in the a$$ even in the garage. I'm glad to hear that these belts are so tough. Never really had a belt/clutch drive machine B4 so I was a bit skeptical about buying the RZR, but so far very happy.
Just curious, has anyone snapped a drive belt in their RZR yet? whether it be bone stock or modded. Wondering how much abuse these can take. Also a bit concerned since I ride in very remote areas often 50-75 miles into the Maine wilderness. If this thing breaks I'd kinda be screwed as there is no cell service or human being for miles. I always tell someone where I am going but often i don't really know either, just love to explore.
I have not seen one done the way you were saying but i have heard of 100+ HP rotax engines being used very successfully In ranger Xp's and the RZR  .
Got any pics of those set ups????
Ok I know I posted on this a while back but the thread went wayyy off topic for some reason and was wondering if any of you have given any more though to this. "this" being switching the RZR S suspension to a regular RZR? Seeing that a aftermarket kit is out of my price range figured I could get lucky and try e-bay for a RZR S suspension set-up. Figured it would be cheaper and since the machines are nearly identical.
I think polaris should recall all pre 09's and retro-fit the new intakes on them. How much better are the 09 intakes, do they completely solve the issue? different location for it or just how its made? Wonder if the 09 will fit the 08??? I bet it would right?
Any how yea I would take her back for warranty work and give em hell. I check my intake every other ride for debris. I have had mud and water in the filter housing but it hasn't got past the filter....yet Good luck let us know how it turns out.
Looks nice. How did you do it, park under the ladder as you painted your barn?
I agree with DALE, its not absolutely essential to have, but if it gets a little sticky, man your going to wish you had it.
i hardly ever ride with my AWD engaged. If you like mud/snow steep hills, you would definitely want it.
